When the Yellowstone prequel 1883 premiered last year, it was viewed with suspicion by fans who were left unsatisfied by the show’s unexpected finale after only 10 episodes. The first 10 episodes of 1883 are covered in this article.
Paramount+ ordered extra episodes of 1883 before the show ended its run on February 15, 2022. Many fans are curious about what will happen next after a dramatic season finale that witnessed the deaths of several important characters, including the narrator Elsa Dutton (Isabel May) and the wagon train captain Shea Brennan (Sam Elliott), as well as the majority of the wagon train itself.
According to Taylor Sheridan (the show’s creator and writer), 1883’s last episode “wasn’t quite what I expected.” “In the end, we wanted to make a 10-hour movie with a satisfying conclusion, and that’s exactly what we delivered. I’m traveling back in time to see what I see through the window of a previous age.”
There is a new era in Dutton history planned, and it appears to be the recently revealed 1932, which will contain a new generation of Dutton history set during the Prohibition and Depression eras. For the promised 1883 episodes, what does this mean? There is no doubt that the episodes will be produced, but the artistic approach for them has not yet been decided.
“We’re completely clueless. Like everyone else, we’re in a state of uncertainty “James Dutton’s patriarch, Tim McGraw, told Variety when asked if the show would continue. There is a great deal of anticipation for what’s to come and we can’t wait to see what [Sheridan] has to say.”
New episodes of 1883 are expected to air exclusively on Paramount+, as they did for the first ten episodes, in whatever format they take.
1883 Season 2 Release Date
It’s not expected that there will be a second season of “1883” or “Yellowstone,” but the tale will go on, executive producer David Glasser told Insider this week. He didn’t say how many additional episodes there would be or in what format. Another prequel, “1932,” has also been revealed by Paramount and Glasser noted that the prequel series can be considered a “collective series,” meaning that more could be in the pipeline.
Also, On an investor call earlier this year from the studio, Paramount+ stated that it would be ordering additional episodes, but it looks like those additional episodes are going to be a new version of Sheridan’s story, set in 1932, with a new cast and a new setting. Due to the several projects Sheridan is working on at this point, it is quite likely that any new series will launch in 2022 at the same time as its predecessor, which is to say late into the year.
