Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus Finally Address Their Divorce

Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus have addressed their rumored split.

“It is after 30 years, five amazing children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways — not with sadness, but with love in our hearts,” reads a joint statement issued by the couple via a family representative. “We have grown up together, raised a family we can be so proud of, and it is now time to create our own paths.”

“We will always be family and look forward to a continued and loving shared experience as friends and parents. We have not come to this decision lightly or quickly but with so much going on in the world, we wanted to provide some clarity and closure, so we can remain focused on what is important,” continues the statement. “With Love and Hope… Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus.”

Tish filed for divorce from her spouse of more than 28 years on Wednesday in Williamson County, Tennessee, citing “irreconcilable differences.” According to TMZ’s initial claim, this is the third time the couple has tried to end their marriage in this way. Tish claims she and Billy Ray, 60, have not shared a home for almost two years.

Tish and Billy Ray tied the knot back in 1993, and since then, they’ve brought up three kids: Miley, now 29, their son Noah, and their daughter Braison. Brandi and Trace, Tish’s adoptive children, are the Doc actor’s new family members.

After filing for divorce in 2010, Billy Ray suddenly withdrew the papers. This divorce is off. In a classic appearance on “The View,” the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer made this exact point. “Right now, everything is great.”

After three years of marriage, Tish filed for divorce again in June, but she and Billy Ray subsequently reassured their supporters that they could work things out with marital therapy.

“We both woke up and realized we love each other and decided we want to stay together,” they said in a joint statement. The pair stated, “We both went into couples therapy, which is something we haven’t done in 22 years of being together, and it’s brought us closer together and really opened up our communication in amazing ways.”

Billy Ray acknowledged that the couple had taken a new, gentler approach to their relationship in a 2016 interview with PEOPLE. “It’s like everything in life,” the musician stated. One must go gradually. Take it day by day. Making modifications is crucial in life and relationships, in my opinion.
