‘Kingdom’ Season 3 Release Date Status, Cast, Plot, Trailer, and Latest Updates in 2022
‘Kingdom’ fans have been anxiously waiting for season 3 to be released on Netflix since season 2 debuted nearly two years ago.
‘Kingdom,’ a historical horror show set in South Korea, is about a plague that brings the dead back to life.
Kingdom has become one of Netflix’s most popular and profitable Asian originals. It received tremendously good reviews when it debuted. Let’s wait and see if there will be more to it.
Renewal Status of ‘Kingdom’ Season 3
‘Kingdom’ has yet to be renewed for a third season by Netflix. But we are confident that the third season will release in the near future. A cliffhanger ended the second season, but the extra bonus episode added to the anticipation.
Ashin, the enigmatic woman who emerged in the final scene of season 2, is the subject of this one-off special bonus episode. “Kingdom: Ashin of the North” is the title of the special episode, which explores the origins of the saengsacho (the resurrection plant).
The advent of the special episode reawakens our enthusiasm for a third season. Director Kim Sung Hoon spoke to Soompi about ‘Kingdom: Ashin of the North’ and said, “If the first season served as the cornerstone of the world, ‘Kingdom: Ashin of the North’ will be a stepping stone to go beyond ‘Kingdom 3.’”
The season 3 renewal of the show will be announced here as soon as it is confirmed.
Expected Release Date for ‘Kingdom’ Season 3
Season 3 of “Kingdom” has yet renewed. As a result, there is currently no release date. This Korean zombie series debuted on Netflix on January 25, 2019, with six episodes available to stream.
A special episode called ‘Kingdom: Ashin of the North’ was uploaded on Netflix on July 23rd, 2021, when the show returned for season 2.
Season 3 of ‘Kingdom’ might premiere in late 2022 or 2023 if Netflix renews the show early this year.
The Storyline of ‘Kingdom’ Season 3
If the show returns for a third season, there will be plenty of unexplored territories.
Season 3 is set to start up where season 2 left off, seven years and three months after the initial outbreak of zombies and the fake death of Prince Chang. The royal highness has been studying the resurrection plant, as reported by Young-Shin, and has been searching for it all around Korea.
We discovered that the plant has been found in several parts of the country. The general public was able to get its hands on these plants thanks to a mysterious Chinese/Korean border trader.
Ashin (played by Jun Ji-Hyun) is the mysterious plant salesman who was the center of the Kingdom special episode aired in July.
Ashin’s true motives have been revealed in the special episode’s official teaser. After her tribe was brutally attacked, Joseon (the people of Prince Chang) denied her justice. She is now out for vengeance.
If the show returns for a third season, we can expect to see a showdown between Ashin and the Prince.
In addition, there is a question about the new prince’s identity. In his younger years, he appeared to be impervious to the worms that cause the turn of the living into the undead. A single parasite remained in his brain as he grew older. Because of this, the prince is in danger of turning undead.
For so long, though, the prince’s immunity to the parasite has remained unaffected. Because of this, there is a possibility that he could be an exception. Instead, will he become a hybrid of the living and the dead? Until the third season, we don’t know.
In addition, there is a risk of another epidemic in the northern part of the country. On their way north, Prince Chang, Seobi, and their guards discovered an abandoned settlement.
Zombies can be found lurking amid the trees of the infected settlement as soon as they arrive. It is impossible for Prince Chang and his companions to hold their own against the overwhelming odds.
Expected Cast of ‘Kingdom’ Season 3
There were a number of characters who perished by the end of season 2. Only the following actors are expected to return, given how Season 2 concluded.
Ju Ji-Hoon and Bae Doo-Na are almost certainly returning as Crown Prince Chang and Seo-Bi, respectively.
Kim Sung-Kyu as Young-Shin, Jun Suk-Ho as Jo Beom-Pal, and Ahn Eun Jin as Moo Young’s Wife.
Following her introduction at the end of season 2, we also anticipate seeing Jun Ji Hyun.
