Robyn Griggs

Celebrity news broke on August 13 that stage, film, and television actress Robyn Griggs had died from cervical cancer. She was most known for creating the role of Maggie Cory on Another World. At the time, she was 49 years old. Griggs co-hosted the Nickelodeon film review show Rated K: For Kids by Kids from 1986 to 1988. Later, in 1991 and 1992, she appeared in six episodes of One Life to Live as Stephanie Hobart, for which she was nominated for a Young Artist Award.

Denise Dowse

Anne Heche

Anne Heche, an actress who became famous in the serial opera Another World and went on to appear in films including Six Days Seven Nights, Donnie Brasco, Wag the Dog, and My Friend Dahmer, passed away on August 5 at the age of 53 due to injuries sustained in a car accident. Heche, who was born on May 25, 1969, in Aurora, Ohio, initially gained recognition for her portrayals of Vicky Hudson and Marley Love on Another World, for which she received a Daytime Emmy and two Soap Opera Digest Awards. Though she made her broadcast television debut in an episode of Murphy Brown in 1991, she didn’t get her first film role until 1993, when she co-starred with Elijah Wood in Disney’s The Adventures of Huck Finn.

Olivia Newton-John

The English-Australian singer and actress Olivia Newton-John, 73, passed away on August 8. She was most remembered for her role as the good-girl-turned-greaser Sandy in the 1978 film Grease. Singing was her first love, and she had hits with songs including “I Honesty Love You,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You” from Grease, and “Physical.” She sold over 100 million records during her career. Olivia Newton-John founded the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne after enduring many breast cancer diagnoses throughout her life.

Judith Durham

Australian folk music legend Judith Durham, who sang lead on the Oscar-nominated hit “Georgy Girl” with the Seekers, passed away at 79.

In a joint statement, Musicoast Pty. Ltd. and Universal Music Australia announced that Durham passed away on Friday at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital following complications related to a long-term chronic lung illness.

After joining the Seekers in 1963, Durham witnessed the band’s meteoric rise to success with the release of songs like “I’ll Never Find Another You” and “The Carnival Is Over.” ‘Georgy Girl was the theme song for the Lynn Redgrave film of the same name, released in 1966.

Roseanna Christiansen

Dallas star Roseanna Christiansen, who played the Ewings’ maid for 112 episodes, has passed away at 71.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Christiansen passed away on July 14 at the Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster, California. Her death was announced on Steve Rizzo’s Facebook page, her husband.

From 1982 until the show’s cancellation in 1991, Christiansen portrayed Teresa on David Jacobs’ CBS smash Dallas. While Marla Gibbs was busy with the short-lived spinoff Checking In, she appeared in three episodes of The Jeffersons as Florence, the family’s maid.

Pat Carroll

Award-winning actress and comedian Pat Carroll passed away on July 30 at the age of 95. She was arguably best remembered as the voice of Ursula, the sea witch in The Little Mermaid.

Carroll first appeared in the film Hometown Girl in 1948, and she made her Broadway debut in the musical Catch a Star! in 1955, for which she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. For her work on the television sketch comedy show Caesar’s Hour in 1957, she was awarded an Emmy.
