On Thursday, Amber Heard told the jury that her ex-husband Johnny Depp has been conducting a harassment campaign against her and that she is humiliated and afraid for her life as a result of the numerous death threats she has received.
In the six-week libel trial that Depp brought against his ex-wife, Heard testified as the final witness. Millions of people have watched the trial online thanks to the courtroom cameras, and that number has only grown as Depp and Heard have testified about their shady past together.
Amber Heard Made Certain Statements In Her Testimony
Groupies lined up overnight to get one of the few spots in the courtroom so they could wave at Depp as he walked in and out, and the story of Depp’s case has been dominated by his fans both online and in person. People on the sidewalk have been booing Heard whenever she enters or exits the courthouse.
Heard, fighting back tears, said, “Every day I have to relive the trauma of the harassment and humiliation, the campaign against me that’s echoed every single day on social media, and now in front of cameras in the showroom. Perhaps it’s easy to forget I’m a human being.”
Depp’s attorney Camille Vasquez told Heard under cross-examination, “your lies have been exposed to the world,” and questioned her about witnesses who contradicted certain aspects of her story.
“I know how many people will come out of the woodwork to be in support of Johnny,” Heard replied.
Legal representation for Depp claims that the actor was defamed by an opinion piece written by Heard for The Washington Post in December 2018 in which she referred to herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.”
Heard has stated her desire to be heard again and her belief that she had the “right as an American” to publish an article about her experiences in light of the national debate surrounding domestic violence.
“Johnny has taken enough of my voice,” she said. “I have the right to tell my story.”
Since she filed for divorce and got a restraining order against Depp, she claims he’s been obsessed with getting even with her. She made reference to Depp’s earlier testimony, in which he was shown texting Heard’s disgruntled ex-personal assistant and telling her to “come over for a spot of purple and we’ll fix her flabby a— nice and good!!!”
“Johnny promised me — promised me — that he’d ruin my life, that he’d ruin my career. He’d take my life from me,” Heard said.
Depp claims Heard was the abusive one in their relationship and denies ever hitting her. In court, Heard detailed more than a dozen instances of physical abuse she claims to have endured at Depp’s hands.
Camille Vasquez said it: This trial was about two individuals-not a movement. 6 weeks of testimony & evidence and a unanimous verdict that Amber Heard lied. You and your anon shadiness have tried to convince the world a trial never happened. Depp deserves to get his life back pic.twitter.com/NpXSnIND2g

Richard Gilbert, a hand surgeon, testified as the last witness for Depp’s side on Thursday morning, and he testified that he believes the injury to Depp‘s middle finger could have occurred as Depp describes it.
During a fight the couple had in Australia, the tip of the finger was cut off. Depp claims that this incident happened when Heard threw a full bottle of vodka at him. Heard says Depp did it to himself in a drug-fueled rage on the same night that he sexually assaulted her with a liquor bottle.
On Friday, the jury will hear the closing arguments.
