BTS, a South Korean boy band, has gained an additional feather to their cap! The Korean boy band won artist of the year at the American Music Prizes on Sunday, beating out Taylor Swift, Drake, and The Weeknd for a total of three awards.
“At the annual 2021 American Music Awards, the K-pop quartet won the Artist of the Year award, which is considered the night’s largest prize (AMA).
The K- Band collaborated with Coldplay for a rowdy “My Universe” and concluded the program with “Butter”. On November 21, the 2021 AMA was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The group attended the presentation and received all three honors for which they were nominated: Favorite Pop Duo or Group, Favorite Pop Song for Butter, and Artist of the Year.
Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, the seven-member boy band, also won honors for Favorite Pop Duo or Group and Favorite Pop Song for their song “Butter” at the lavish show, that broadcasted from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night and was hosted by rapper Cardi B.

BTS has made history by becoming the first Asian act to win Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards. BTS has won Favourite Pop Duo or Group for the third year in a row. As they were revealed as category winners, BTS came up to the stage to accept their trophy and express gratitude to BTS ARMY.
“Thank you ARMY and thank you AMAs very much for this,” J-Hope of BTS remarked. Wow, for the third year in a row!
BTS and Megan Thee Stallion were supposed to perform “Butter” earlier this week, but the rapper had to cancel due to personal reasons. She was voted favorite female hip-hop artist, her album “Good News” was chosen favorite hip-hop album, and her single “Body” was named favorite trending song, a new category this year.
Other Performances at AMA
With a combination of live and pre-taped concerts, the presentation honored the finest popular music for a second pandemic year. Bruno Mars and Anderson from Silk Sonic. Jennifer Lopez pre-taped her “On My Way” from her upcoming romantic drama “Marry Me,” and Anderson Paak kicked off the Oscars on a funky, R&B, and which was before noted with their “Smokin Out the Window.”
Rodrigo’s favorite pop album has been replaced by Taylor Swift’s “evermore.” “I’m so happy to be in your life,” Swift said in a taped speech to her admirers. Swift also took up the award for favorite female pop artist, giving her a total of 34 awards in her career, making her the most honored artist in AMA history.
Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean brought a little country to the stage with their pre-taped duet “If I Didn’t Love You.” Rodrigo performed her hit “traitor” live on a step full of flowers, and Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean brought a little nation to the stage with their pre-taped duet “If I Didn’t Love You.” Bad Bunny played their single “Lo Siento BB” with the support of Julieta Venegas and Tainy.
