Anthony Anderson Early Life
August 15, 1970, saw the birth of Anthony Anderson in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Raised in Compton, he graduated from Howard University and the Hollywood High School Performing Arts Magnet in 1988.
Anderson’s first attempt at stand-up comedy was a self-described “failure” (funnily, he performed as “Tasty Tony, the One and Only, and if there’s another, he’s a phoney” at his first gig at The Comedy Act Theater, which led the audience to boo him off the stage before he said a word).
Nevertheless, he persisted and eventually met actor Guy Torry, who would go on to be a crucial partner in the early years of his career.
Although a large portion of Anderson’s career remained in humour after this unlucky theatrical debut, he has made it apparent that he views himself more as an actor who frequently works in comedy than as a comic in the conventional sense. Although Anderson’s most well-known roles have been in television, he has also starred in a respectable amount of feature pictures. In 1999, he made his screen debut in the movie Liberty Heights. The same year, he costarred with pal Guy Torry in the Eddie Murphy/Martin Lawrence vehicle Life.

2014 saw Anthony and Alvina part ways. In 2015, she filed for divorce. Before Alvina filed for divorce a second time in March 2022, the pair had reconciled in January 2017. September 2023 saw the conclusion of their divorce.
As per the conditions of their divorce agreement, Anthony must give Alvina a base monthly support of $20,000 if his annual income is less than $2 million. Alvina is eligible to get 20% of any year that he earns more than $2 million.
