Bam Margera, a former pro skater and infamous Jackass prankster, claims he was proclaimed dead in December due to complications from the AIDS virus and a series of seizures. The Viva La Bam star spoke up to his old Jackass co-star Steve-O about the near-death experience on the most recent episode of Steve-Wild O’s Ride podcast. Surprisingly, there were no reckless antics or potentially life-threatening risks taken.

On the program aired on January 5, Margera revealed to Steve-O, “Basically, I was proclaimed dead on December 8.” She continued, “I did not realize that I had nasty COVID and my body was shutting down.” The ex-MTV star, now 43, went on to say that he had five seizures totaling “10 to 20 minutes” in duration.

Margera said, “By the fourth one, I was biting my tongue so hard it was almost falling out.” “The swelling and puffiness made it unusable in my mouth. The contaminated blood I drank caused me pneumonia.” Perhaps what Margera means is that he inhaled the blood from his tongue, exacerbating pneumonia brought on by the COVID infection he was unaware he had. Once he was already in the hospital, he had his sixth seizure, prompting the intubation.

About a week into his third stint at an alcohol recovery programme, former Jackass actor Bam Margera says he is committed to staying sober. The 39-year-old actor and comedian made the announcement on New Year’s Eve that he will be entering rehab for the third time since 2011, when his friend Ryan Dunn was killed in a drunk driving accident.
