The individual we’ll refer to as Brian Laundrie was a white American from Florida. He is the brother of Cassandra “Cassie” Laundrie and the son of Christopher John “Chris” Laundrie and Roberta Maria Vinci Laundrie.
It was in North Port, Florida, where Brian spent most of his time with his parents. Gabby Petito, the daughter of Joseph “Joe” Petito and Nicole Schmidt, was one of his classmates at Bayport-Blue Point High School in Bayport, Town of Islip, Suffolk County, New York, USA.
In his Instagram bio, self-described “nature nut” Brian compared getting bitten by bugs to being “brainwashed” by the media. If you want to know more about him, here are thirteen more details.
The Tragic Passing Of Brian Laundrie
After Brian Laundrie, the fiance of Gabby Petito, went missing late last summer and sparked a firestorm, officials claimed Monday that all that was left of him was his bones, which had been primarily consumed by animals.
The Medical Examiner for the County of Sarasota in Florida concluded that Laundrie died from a headshot wound after an autopsy.
According to the medical examiner’s report, Laundrie’s bones were discovered in a swampy section of the Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County in October. The body had been submerged for “up to three feet and possibly more” of time.
According to the official report, “extensive carnivore activity demonstrated by various gouging and gnawing scars consistent with carnivores and omnivores including canines such as feral dogs and coyotes along with rats and raccoons” caused Laundrie’s body to be consumed down to the skeleton.

Maybe the most critical judgement that needs to be made before the civil trial between Gabby Petito’s and Brian Laundrie’s parents can even begin is whether or not the “burn after reading” letter can be used as evidence.
NEW in the Gabby Petito murder case. Per court doc, Brian Laundrie’s mother Roberta wrote her son and offered to bring him a shovel to help bury Petito’s body. The FBI had the note. Gabby’s parents, Joe Petito and Nichole Schmidt, have launched a civil case against the Laundries based on a letter written by Roberta Laundrie to Brian.
Petito and Schmidt are suing the Laundries, claiming that they knew their son had murdered Petito but did nothing to investigate the matter further than have their counsel release a statement expressing hope that Petito would be located.
Legal Battle Between Gabby Petito Family And Brian Laundrie
The parents of Brian Laundrie, the man police claim murdered Gabriella Petito in 2021, will be in court as Gabby’s relatives fight a civil case filed on their behalf. On Wednesday, a Florida judge will decide whether Petito’s parents have presented sufficient evidence to proceed with their lawsuit and have the matter tried by a jury.
Attorney for the Petito family, Patrick Reilly, said, “The Laundries should be liable for their conduct and what they did after they learned that Gabby was deceased and where her body was recovered.” According to FBI agents, Laundrie killed Petito by strangulation in Wyoming last summer and then flew back to Florida.
A nationwide search was launched when she went missing, but Laundrie and his family refused to cooperate with authorities or Petito’s parents. After officers discovered his body and confession letter in a nearby swamp, an autopsy concluded that Laundrie had shot himself.
