Creed 3 Release Date, Cast and Everything We Know

Creed 3 Release Date: The release of Creed in 2015 revitalized the dormant Rocky film series. Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) transferring the torch to a newer, younger boxing champion was met with skepticism by fans of the 1977 Best Picture winner and its multiple sequels. Creed not only lived up to but possibly surpassed, the legacy of the franchise, putting such anxieties to rest. Creed is a brilliant reboot that gives old characters more depth and gives the franchise a new iconic name. Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan), the son of Rocky’s former rival and close friend Apollo Creed, is the new hero of the franchise (Carl Weathers).

Directed by Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), the first Creed picture followed Adonis Creed, a man who gave up a successful career in order to follow his dream of becoming a professional boxer. He finds Rocky Balboa, who turns Adonis into a powerful fighter and a better person via his training. Creed II, directed by Steven Caple Jr. (The Land), established that the success of the previous film was no fluke by developing the antagonists Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu) and focusing on Adonis’s transition into fatherhood.

Creed II was supposed to be the final Rocky film after Sylvester Stallone announced his retirement from playing Rocky Balboa. But shortly after Creed II hit theatres, word spread that a third installment was in the works. Michael B. Jordan will not only reprise his role as the film’s protagonist and serve as producer this time around, but he will also direct for the first time. Creed 3 (2023) is shaping up to be a fitting end to the trilogy, with Ryan Coogler continuing his involvement as executive producer and Jordan ready to prove his directorial mettle. Here’s everything we know about the Creed 3 release date, cast, and more.

Creed 3 Trailer

On October 18, 2022, the first official trailer for Creed 3 was released online, giving fans their first look at the film’s plot. In the trailer, Damien, an old friend of Adonis’s, has just been released from prison and plans to take on his brother figure, who he believes left him behind for a better life. Stallone’s Rocky Balboa does not appear in the trailer, as was widely speculated, placing the series’ focus firmly on Adonis Creed. Creed 3 release date was not mentioned in the trailer.

Creed 3 Release Date

The third installment in the Adonis Creed film series, Creed 3, was supposed to be released in November 2022, however, its Creed 3 release date has been pushed back to March 3, 2023. Creed 3 will presumably open in theatres on the same day as the other two films in the series. Given Prime Video‘s recent multi-billion dollar purchase of Rocky series owner MGM, it appears likely that Prime Video will be the streaming home for Creed 3.

Creed 3 Plot

Adonis’s father, Apollo Creed, was killed by Viktor’s father, Ivan Drago, in Rocky IV, therefore the two families have been rivals ever since. When we last saw Adonis, he had just defeated Viktor Drago in a boxing match.  Every major character ends up on a positive note. And just as Adonis reconciles himself to his family‘s legacy and Rocky mends fences with his estranged relatives, so too do Ivan and Viktor set aside their antagonism and work on mending their connection as father and son.

The official synopsis is as follows:

“After dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has been thriving in both his career and family life. When a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian (Jonathan Majors), resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. The face-off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian – a fighter who has nothing to lose.”

Creed 3 is the third installment in the successful franchise and is Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut. Creed 3 release date has been released.

Creed 3 Cast

Michael B. Jordan will reprise the lead role of Adonis Creed for the third time and direct the film. The absence of Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa will be felt, but he will be joined by Tessa Thompson (Thor: Love and Thunder) as his wife Bianca Creed, and Phylicia Rashad (Soul) as his mother Mary Anne Creed.

Real-life boxers who played major roles in Adonis’s previous two films are also back for more action. Tony “Bomber” Bellew (Creed) played “Pretty” Ricky Conlan in the first movie, and Florian Munteanu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) played Viktor Drago in the second. This might be interpreted as Creed putting aside old grudges in order to face a new foe, Jonathan Majors’ Damien Anderson. Legendary cutman Jacob “Stitch” Duran, who previously appeared in the first two films, will return for the third, while boxing world champion Canelo Alvarez will make his acting debut as Saul. Thaddeus J. Mixson, Selanis Leyva, and Spence Moore II (Spider-Man: Homecoming, We) round out the cast (South of Heaven).

If there will be any changes in Creed 3 release date, we will update this post. Till then Creed 3 release date is March 3, 2023.
