Darren Mallory Sharper entered the world on November 3, 1975, in the Commonwealth of Virginia’s capital city of Richmond. He went to Hermitage and was the starting quarterback for the football team. Darren was a four-year basketball starter who also maintained a perfect attendance record and was named to the honor roll three times.
While playing football at William & Mary, his coach successfully persuaded him to switch positions from wide receiver to defensive back. After making this decision, he flourished, being named to the All-American team twice and the All-Conference team three times.
When he graduated from college, he had a combined total of 24 interceptions and 1,027 punt return yards, both of which set a new record.

The Green Bay Packers picked Darren Sharper (number 60 overall) in the second round of the 1997 NFL Draft. He was one of the top defensive backs in the NFL during his eight years with the Packers. Both the Pro Bowl and All-Pro teams have him on their roster twice.

Darren Sharper entered a guilty plea and on August 17, 2016, he was given a 20-year prison term by a federal judge. Because of this, he was kicked out of the William & Mary Sports Hall of Fame. It was debated whether his felony convictions should prevent him from entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame once he became eligible for induction in 2016.
