Well, we can smell a new Call of Duty movie cookin’
Hollywood’s biggest stars will take on gaming’s biggest blockbuster in a new film adaptation.
According to movie news website Giant Freakin Robot “trusted and proven inside source,” Dwayne Johnson is in talks for the lead role in a Call of Duty film.
Johnson teases the upcoming announcement of a video game movie project he’s going to get involved in but did not provide further details. Fans of Call of Duty will be ecstatic at that news in addition to GFR’s report.
“I can’t tell you which game we’re doing, but we’ll announce it this year,” Johnson says in an interview to Men’s Journal earlier this month. “We’re bringing one of the biggest, baddest games of all time to the screen-one that I’ve played for years. I’m thrilled to share it with fans everywhere. We’ll make sure that we take proper care of our gamer friends, but mostly we’re just going to make a great movie.”
The GFR report did not include any information about the movie, such as the time or characters. However, Call of Duty has been set in multiple decades and generations of warfare. It includes World War II, Vietnam, the Cold War, and, of course, modern warfare.
According to the report, Activision had also considered creating a Call of Duty cinematic universe, similar to Marvel’s interconnected movies. Since then, multiple priorities have shifted, but a potential film is reportedly back on the table now.
Let’s speculate about which role The Rock could play and what the plot of the movie might be.
So, stay tuned, folks! Because we’ll surely tell you every tiny bit of news we get our hands-on. You can definitely trust us in this regard as a hard fan of COD too! 😉
