On Thursday (February 23), he received a 20-year sentence, but he will spend most of it concurrently with his racketeering and trafficking sentence from last year.

Kelly was accused of 13 offenses, including child sex trafficking, conspiracy to commit fraud, and creating and receiving child pornography.

After receiving a 30-year sentence in mid-2022, Kelly’s racketeering and sex trafficking trial began. Prosecutors requested an additional 25 years for Kelly’s 30-year sentence.

However, Judge Harry Leinenweber ordered Kelly 20 more years in prison, 19 of which would run concurrently with his current term, for 31 years. Two victims testified for R. Kelly’s harsh sentencing. R. Kelly’s alleged victim, “Jane,” wrote that the singer “permanently traumatized” her and “basically snatched” her dreams.

Another victim, “Nia,” testified against Kelly. “Now you are here… because something is wrong with you,” she continued. “No more kid harm.”Reports say both sentences have been appealed, but Kelly has remained silent.
