Edward Greim, Ken Klukowski’s attorney, said, “We have been fully cooperating with the Department of Justice and the Select Committee, and we will continue that cooperation.”

Just 36 days before Trump‘s term ended, Klukowski joined the Department of Justice to work for Assistant Attorney General Clark, whom Trump considered nominating as Attorney General to advance an investigation into Trump’s spurious claims of election fraud.

The DOJ has executed warrants on both Clark and John Eastman, an attorney for the Trump campaign who argued for former Vice President Mike Pence to ignore his ceremonial duty to certify the election results.

The House committee looking into the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, had claimed in an earlier hearing that Klukowski had worked with Eastman before joining the department and presented evidence suggesting their relationship continued while Klukowski was working under Clark.

Vice Chairwoman Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) presented an email from Trump associate Ken Blackwell to Pence on December 28 requesting a briefing from Klukowski and Eastman and warning “to make sure we don’t overexpose Ken given his new position.”

“This email suggests that Mr. Klukowski was simultaneously working with Jeffrey Clark to draft the proposed letter to Georgia officials to overturn their certified election and working with Dr. Eastman to help pressure the Vice President to overturn the election,” said Cheney.

He released a statement after the hearing, saying, “The Jan. 6 committee falsely accused me of being a go-between in a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election on Thursday.”

That accusation is false both in its broad outlines and its details. Since the Committee first contacted me, I have cooperated without hesitation, provided it with hundreds of documents, and sat for many hours of recorded depositions.”
