In November 2014, James Gunn revealed that he has ideas for a third film in the series, and in April 2017, he announced that he will return to write and direct the movie. As a result of a resurfacing of contentious tweets, Disney terminated Gunn’s involvement in the film in July 2018.
However, by October, the studio had reinstated James Gunn as the director. When Gunn finished filming The Suicide Squad and its spinoff series Peacemaker in 2021, he announced his return to the series in March 2022. Filming began in Atlanta, Georgia, in November 2021 and lasted until early May 2022.
This is the final time.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to wrap up Marvel Studios’ trilogy about a ragtag group of interstellar heroes.
Despite the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy came out in 2014 and Vol. 2 in 2017, Marvel fans haven’t actually seen Peter Quill/Star-Lord and his squad for quite some time.
Both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, in which they assisted in the defeat of Thanos, were released in 2018, and Thor: Love and Thunder, due out in July 2022, is expected to feature them in some capacity.
The Guardians will return to the skies without Gamora (Zoe Saldana) after a five-year absence. Even though Thanos killed his own daughter in Infinity War, he left the 2014 version of his character — who hadn’t yet fallen in love with Peter or decided to become a decent guy — to live in the present.
Before the Guardians could convince her to join them, she rushed away, therefore she has unfinished business with the group.
There are still cliffhangers in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to be resolved. In a post-credits sequence, Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki), after losing a battle to the Star-Lords team claims she has a plot for retribution, ominously hinting at the villain. The most magnificent and powerful being ever made by a woman, she claims, has emerged from a birthing pod.
The Next Big Villian in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The upcoming big villain of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 appears to be revealed in new set images from the film’s production that is Atlanta Production. Extras costumed as human-animal hybrids can be seen in the images provided by Atlanta Shooting.
While it may not be immediately clear what this signifies for the science fiction film, comic book fans will undoubtedly be wondering if we’re heading to a parallel universe.
In the Marvel comics, on which the MCU movies are based, there is a planet called “Counter-Earth” that orbits our sun. The creator, the High Evolutionary, has chosen to keep it beyond the reach of ‘our Earth’. The High Evolutionary was once an ordinary man, but the Inhumans helped him evolve to the pinnacle of human potential, granting him superpowers along the way.
Being endowed with a near-omniscient mastery of science, the High Evolutionary created his own planet and populated it with human-animal hybrids. The planet was renamed “Counter-Earth” and was frequently visited by characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, much to the displeasure of the planet’s creators.
Most fans believe the images reveal a stop in Counter-Earth, where they’ll likely run into the High Evolutionary. The Evolutionary, on the other hand, is an Avengers-level danger capable of taking on Galactus.
Although the appearance of the villain is still out in the air, previous set photos have revealed street art that looks to depict the High Evolutionary.
