Kamalelehua Smith (Kelly Preston) was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on October 13, 1962. She attended the University of Southern California to study acting and made her film debut in 1985 with a supporting role in Mischief.

Following SpaceCamp (1986), Preston appeared in Twins (1988), Jerry Maguire (1996), and For Love of the Game (1999). Preston’s last film role was as Victoria Gotti in 2018’s Gotti, where John Travolta played her husband, the mob boss John Gotti.

Travolta presented her with a six-carat yellow and white diamond ring on New Year’s Eve 1991 at the Palace Hotel restaurant in Gstaad, Switzerland. Preston was already two months along in her pregnancy with the couple’s son Jett when they tied the knot on September 5, 1991. (They had a second wedding in Daytona Beach, Florida, in the United States.)

Their 28th wedding anniversary was celebrated in September of last year. The Grease star posted on Instagram, “Happy Anniversary to my wonderful wife @therealkellypreston.”

In an emotional note to her husband, Preston revealed:  “To my dearest Johnny, the most wonderful man I know. You have given me hope when I have felt lost, loved me patiently and unconditionally… made me laugh harder than any other human being possible… shared the most beautiful highs, and, at times low. You’re a dream, Daddio, and make life so much fun!! I trust my love with you implicitly… with you, I know I will always be okay no matter what happens… I love you forever and completely. Happy 28th Anniversary, @johntravolta.”

During an interview published in 2018, Preston recalled a tender moment between the couple. “When Johnny unexpectedly takes me on a plane and takes me out to dinner somewhere, I have no idea of the location, that’s when I know I’ve been whisked away. It’s great to have a pilot husband,” she said.

Furthermore, the mother of three absolutely cherished her kids. Preston told InStyle in 2001, “I’ve wanted babies since I was 9.”

Jett, their son, was born in April 1992, and Ella, their daughter, was born in April 2000. After Preston and Travolta tried for three years to conceive after Jett’s death, their son Ben was born in November 2010.

A June family selfie was Preston’s last Instagram post in honor of Father’s Day. She captioned a photo of their son Ben and daughter Ella with, “Happy Father’s Day to the best one I know, we love you.” Preston also included a black and white photo of Travolta and Jett.
