Mac Miller’s Cause of Death Revealed

Today, a Westwood man was given a sentence of more than 17 years in prison for his role in supplying the fentanyl-laced pills that ultimately caused the death of rapper Mac Miller four years ago.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office reported that Stephen Walter was given a 210-month prison term.

The federal court accepted Walter’s guilty plea last year after he was charged with fentanyl distribution.

Miller overdosed on a lethal combination of fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol in September of 2018. The fentanyl that killed the 26-year-old rapper was provided by Walter just days beforehand.

They also charged two others. In April, Ryan Reavis, 39, was sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to the distribution charge. Cameron Pettit, 30, of West Hollywood, is currently being prosecuted.

According to court documents filed in federal court in Los Angeles, Walter shipped the fake oxycodone pills to Reavis, who then sold them to the third defendant.

According to Reavis, he was aware that the pills were laced with fentanyl or another illegal substance. Federal prosecutors say that Pettit allegedly supplied the pills to Malcolm McCormick, better known as Mac Miller, shortly after Reavis handed them over. McCormick overdosed and died on September 7, 2018, in Studio City.

In today’s court, Ryan Reavis was given a 131-month prison term for his role in supplying the fentanyl-laced pills that ultimately caused the overdose death of rapper Mac Miller four years ago.

According to court documents filed in federal court in Los Angeles on September 5, 2018, Reavis supplied the third defendant with counterfeit oxycodone pills at Walter’s direction on September 4.

At 14, Miller began his rapping career, gaining a large fan base before signing with the label of fellow Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa. Miller released five studio albums and many mix tapes during his career. A month before his untimely passing, Warner Records released his album Swimming.
