Jan. 30 (Reuters) – According to two Reuters sources, a grand jury in New York is currently hearing testimony on former President Donald Trump’s involvement in hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign.
The Manhattan district attorney’s office may pursue criminal charges against the former president, and a grand jury might provide the necessary evidence.

One source told Reuters that former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker testified before a grand jury. According to the New York Times, which first reported on the grand jury on Monday, Pecker was spotted entering the building in lower Manhattan where the grand jury is empaneled.
Forthwith, Pecker was not available for comment. The publishing house offered to assist Trump by purchasing the rights to libelous tales in the hopes of never publishing them. The moves seem to District Attorney Alvin Bragg is closer to deciding whether or not to file charges against Trump.
The office of Representative Bragg did not respond to requests for comment about the Times article.

Trump denies the affair ever happened and in 2018 told reporters he had no idea about a payment to Daniels, although Daniels claims she was paid $130,000 before the 2016 presidential election to keep quiet about the encounter.
