Was Matthew Lillard In Scream 4?
Stu Macher is arguably the most recognizable Ghostface, and some have questioned whether or not Matthew Lillard ever appeared in Scream 4. In the 1996 film, Stu emerges and follows Billy Loomis’ orders to murder citizens of Woodsboro, California (Skeet Ulrich).
Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), the film’s final girl, is surprised to learn the identities of both Ghostface killers, and Stu has one of the film’s most memorable lines when he sobs because he knows his parents would be unhappy with him. Stu doesn’t hold a grudge towards Sidney or an appetite for payback like subsequent Ghostfaces.
Apparently on this day 10 years ago, someone I went to school with was trying to make me jealous, as she'd acquired her tickets for Scream 4. How was that a decade ago?! Jesus… Anyway, in the intervening years, I was hugged by Matthew Lillard, so NOW WHO'S JEALOUS, SAM?! pic.twitter.com/aTuFcpAWpe

Stu doesn’t hold a grudge towards Sidney or an appetite for payback like subsequent Ghostfaces. Lillard portrayed Shaggy Rogers in two Scooby-Doo films after playing Billy’s sidekick Stu in Scream. He also had roles in comedies and horror films including The Perfect Score and Wicker Park.
Even though Stu Macher seems to die after Sidney shoots him at the end of Scream, the actor’s performance as the popular character raises questions regarding whether or not he appears in any of the other films in the slasher franchise.
