It was widely believed that Narcos Mexico would finish with Deigo Luna’s Gallardo being taken into custody. However, that was at the end of season two, and season three of the series has just been released. Consequently, the real question is: Will there be a fourth season of Narcos Mexico?
There will be no more seasons of the show, according to the show’s co-creator Carlo Bernard and he’s got some solid reasons for it, too. But first, let’s take a look back at Narcos Mexico.
What All Was Covered in Seasons 1,2 and 3?
Narcos Mexico initially focused on Pablo Escobar and his milieu. It begins with a loose and chaotic confederation of small-time independent marijuana cultivators and sellers in Mexico, where the modern drug war began.
The first season of Narcos Mexico depicted that Félix Gallardo gathers together drug smugglers to build an empire in the 1980s. After moving his family out of California to move to Mexico for a new job, DEA agent Enrique Camarena Salazar finds out that his task is far more difficult than he had anticipated.
One word sums up the season two finale of Narcos Mexico that is impactful. It is Félix Gallardo’s responsibility to deal with both the U.S. and domestic criticism at the same time. In the second season, Felix finds himself in a prison cell as he grows more confident in his untouchability.
The Mexican cartels were left with a massive power vacuum after Gallardo’s arrest. As a result, there was a slew of new contenders for the coveted post of the kingpin. Due to Gallardo’s fall, season three focused on the Sinaloa, Tijuana, and Juárez drug cartels.
As a new generation of cartel leaders vies for power, journalists probe the truth while government officials walk a tightrope between justice and corruption.
Despite the fact that the Netflix Original series was set in the same location for all three seasons, each season’s story and timeframe are distinct.
Will There Be a Fourth Season of Narcos Mexico?
It’s certain that this Netflix series will finish with either a dramatic overthrow of a powerful person or a brief reign of absolute control for someone. Actor Deigo Luna, who plays Felix Gallardo said-
“It’s a system that creates these characters and gets rid of them when they’re not needed anymore (…) It’s a system where corruption is present everywhere, and it’s a system that involves government, police, military, banks on both sides of the border.”
As a result, the show’s writers have decided to maintain Narcos at a manageable length. Carlo Bernard, one of the show’s co-creators, recently stated, “I saw this season as an origin story of the modern world that we live in. For me, it felt like bringing the show up to that spot where we now recognize, for better or for worse, made sense as a place to stop it. The show has been able to lift the curtains and show you how this thing began, how it evolved.”
Bernard hinted in another interview that while nothing is in the works right now, “other iterations” are always a possibility.
There may still be a possibility for a sequel or spin-off, despite the fact that all present plans have failed.
