Everything You Need to Know About Need For Speed Heat

The Need For Speed series, a staple of the gaming industry since the early to mid-2000s, is a legend in its own time but is in dire need of a redesign. The eighth installment, available for purchase on November 8, is already generating excitement and interest.

This edition, called “Heat,” hopes to add to what has already been a great year for racers everywhere. The 2019 street racing season has officially begun with the return of GRID.

The PS2 games Underground 2 and Most Wanted helped propel the series to legendary status, but recent games have been critical and commercial flops.

Release Date & Price

On November 8th, Need For Speed Heat will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Origin.

Pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition on Origin Access Premier will have early access beginning on November 5. The EA Access 10-hour trial will also be available.

The standard and deluxe game versions will cost £54.99 on PS4 and Xbox One. While the base game is still £54.99 on Origin, the Deluxe Edition is now only £59.99.

Trailer

What you see in the trailer for Need for Speed Heat is what you get. Plenty of crashes involving fast cars and police with blaring sirens.

While teasing out daytime missions and the classic illegal night races on which Need For Speed built its reputation, it also flexes some customization muscles by allowing you to add bodywork and spoilers to your cars. You can watch the reveal trailer below if you haven’t watched it.

Pre-Order bonuses

Pre-ordering the game on consoles or PC will grant access to bonus content. The standard edition comes with a K.S. Edition Mitsubishi Evolution X as a free bonus when you make a preorder.

However, you can unlock your garage by preordering the Deluxe Edition. The Evo X and three additional K.S. Edition vehicles—a BMW i8 Coupe, a Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe, and a Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport—are included in the package.

Also included are enhancements to your character’s reputation and bank balance, as well as four unique outfits.

Gameplay

Although the events of Need for Speed Heat take place in the made-up Palm City, the game takes inspiration from Miami, as seen in the trailer and the design of the Heat logo. There are also numerous references to other games set in a Miami-inspired metropolis, such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

During the day, Palm City will host official races dubbed the Speedhunter Showdown, where participants can win Bank to use toward purchasing new vehicles or customizing existing ones. However, when the sun goes down, the cops come out to watch the illegal street races where your reputation will be made.

Little else is known, but EA claims that “The game deepens and expands everything Need for Speed fans love – expressive customization, authentic urban car culture, and an immersive narrative that pulls you into the game.”

One of the best things about Palm City is the promise of a truly open-world experience.
