New Doctor Who: Production Company Name Hints at Shared Universe & Spinoffs

Who does not like to hear about Doctor Who? Well… this time there might be some changes, which can actually excite us more. Doctor Who is all set to regenerate again in 2023, on the occasion of its sixtieth anniversary, with current Time Lord Jodie Whittaker and showrunner Chris Chibnall exiting the series next year. The critically acclaimed producer is heading back to direct the show for the Fourteenth Doctor’s tenure, and fans are eager to see if he can bring Doctor Who back to the heights of David Tennant’s widely popular time in office in the TARDIS. The production company named Whoniverse 1 Ltd.,

which has a Doctor Who producer on board, has sparked wishful thinking about the franchise’s foreseeable term shared universe. With Doctor Who: Flux premiering, fans of the show have been excitedly making a guess on what the coming months of the series could encompass.

Gardner’s involvement with the Whoniverse company as a director suggests that it will be the production company for future Doctor Who episodes, beginning with the 60th-anniversary celebrations. It is the name given to Doctor Who’s expanded universe, which Davies established more than a decade ago with shows like Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

If that is not enough to persuade you, consider that Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter are both directors of this new production company.
