After failing to register as a sex offender in Los Angeles, Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, was given three-year probation and a year of house arrest, according to reports. Kenneth entered a guilty plea in September for failing to register as a sexual offender but was only recently ordered to pay a fine of $55,000.
Page Six reports that Petty was arrested in March 2020 because he had ignored a November 2019 California court order to register as a sex offender.

Before he started dating Minaj, he had to register as a sex offender in New York because he had been convicted of attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl in 1994. Petty, however, failed to follow Minaj’s lead and leave California after their wedding in October 2019.
Apparently, Beverly Hills police arrested Kenneth in November 2019 after discovering he was a registered sex offender in New York but failed to register in California. Petty was charged with failing to register as a sex offender and was later released on a USD 20,000 bond.
Over the years, Nicki Minaj has come to her husband’s defense, and in 2018, she even addressed the issue on Instagram, writing, “He was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship. But go awf, [sic] internet, y’all can’t run my life. y’all can’t even run y’all own life.”
