One Day At a Time Season 4: Sony Pictures TV, the show’s producer, made similar efforts to find a new network for the critically acclaimed remake of Norman Lear’s classic 1970s sitcom after its first cancellation almost two years ago. One Day At a Time Season 4 has been a fan favourite.
It was a long shot, but the cast and crew found out today that the show has been cancelled. The news was tweeted out by One Day at a Time’s co-creators, executive producers, and showrunners, Gloria Calderon Kellett and Mike Royce. One Day At a Time Season 4 has always been up to the mark.

“It’s officially over. There will be no new @OneDayAtATime episodes,” Calderon Kellett wrote. “But there will always be 46 episodes that we got to make that life FOREVER. Thank you to this beautiful cast. Our dedicated crew. And to you, our loyal fans. We loved making this for you. Thank you for watching.”
Earlier this year, Pop aired the remaining episodes of One Day At a Time Season 4, but just last month, the network decided not to order any more episodes. Following Netflix’s cancellation in 2019, the ViacomCBS ad-supported cable network stepped in to save the show through a complicated agreement that included repeat airings on sister network CBS. Pop and TV Land shared One Day At a Time Season 4, which was cut short by the pandemic.
It has been reported that Sony TV has done everything possible to keep the One Day at a Time reboot starring a Latino family on the air. The studio’s option on the cast expires at the end of the month, so time was of the essence. The cast of ODAAT includes Rita Moreno, Stephen Tobolowsky, Marcel Ruiz, Izabella Gomez, and Todd Grinnell.
Despite being nominated for two Emmys and winning one, for its fourth season on Pop, ODAAT was cancelled without a fitting conclusion. Six live-action episodes of ODAAT’s fourth season were produced due to the pandemic. Quarantine allowed for the production of a seventh animated episode, “The Politics Episode,” which directly addressed the presidential election on November 3. (That episode did not air on CBS.)
Calderon Kellett discussed the creative plans for a possible fifth season in an interview last month.
“Obviously, we would absorb (the unproduced storylines); we have so many beautiful episodes,” she said. “There was the one that Justina was going to direct, which is another beautiful religion episode, which we would love to put into Season 5 and give her that directing debut and also a beautiful script written by Sebastian Jones and so many other really wonderful storylines that we really, really want to do, in terms of Elena figuring out where she’s going to school and really what’s going to be happening to these kids, as well as what Penelope’s love life now looks like,” the producer said.
So much more happened between us, and I think every day, “I’m like, oh my gosh, Elena would say this. Elena would say that. Elena would say this. It’s just ripe with things that this family would be talking about.”
Been watching a little 3 season show on netflix called One Day at a Time. Amazing show. But how DARE they end it on a cliff hanger at one of the biggest plot twists of the series. They better bring it back for a season 4 otherwise I’m throwing hands.

Executive producer Lear and star Calderon Kellett both wished the show would be renewed for additional seasons.
Calderon Kellett remarked, “This family, we have so much for them to go through still.”
