Scooter Braun, Hybe America Buys Atlanta Rap Powerhouse Quality Control
The acquisition of Atlanta’s QC Media Holdings or Quality Control, home to talents including Lil Baby, Migos, Lil Yachty, and City Girls, was revealed yesterday (January 8) — less than a month after Scooter Braun took total control of HYBE America.
Pierre Pierre “P” Thomas and Kevin “Coach K” Lee formed Quality Control, an entertainment conglomerate with a hand in the music, sports, film, and television industries.
After selling Ithaca Holdings to the South Korean conglomerate HYBE for $1.05 billion in 2021, Braun, an American record executive and talent manager, led the sale of Quality Control to HYBE America.
Hybe Buys Quality Control In $300 Million Deal Led By Scooter Braun
According to the Hollywood Reporter, South Korean music label Hybe paid around $300 million (in cash and shares) to acquire American hip-hop firm Quality Control (QC Media Holdings).
According to a filing with Korean regulators, Hybe America, directed by CEO and talent manager Scooter Braun, is purchasing QC for $250 million and issuing $50 million in additional stock to QC’s founders Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas. The Atlanta-based label has artists from the worlds of sports, movies, and television on its roster, along with names like Migos and Lil Baby.

This transaction is Braun’s first significant action as CEO of Hybe since he assumed that role earlier this year. Hybe was founded in 2005 and will continue to operate under the name Big Hit Entertainment until 2021; their roster of artists includes BTS, Tomorrow X Together, and Lee Hyun, among others.
Big Machine Label Group (whose roster features Tim McGraw, Thomas Rhett, and Rascal Flatts, among others) and SB Projects are two of the many U.S.-based ventures owned by the entertainment giant (home to Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and the Kid Laroi).
