When it comes to video games, the long-running program South Park is renowned for having a mixed past. With 2014’s South Park: The Stick of Truth, the series finally made a significant turnaround following a string of critically panned tie-in games that were released in the 1990s and early 2000s. The highly acclaimed and financially lucrative role-playing game received a follow-up in 2017, with South Park: The Fractured but Whole.

South Park: Snow Day, a 3D cooperative multiplayer game that reinvents the series, has now been revealed by THQ Nordic. Here is what we currently know about it, including the game’s gameplay and release window.

South Park: Snow Day will be available in 2024, though no exact release date has been announced.

Nearly exactly a year after the company hinted at the game’s existence at the conclusion of its 2022 showcase, the game was revealed during THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2023.

Does South Park: Snow Day Have a Trailer?

There is currently only a brief announcement teaser for South Park: Snow Day.

The one-minute trailer features scenes of South Park kids fighting in the streets, as well as the game’s new 3D art style and basic plot.

South Park: Snow Day Plot

The official synopsis says: Come celebrate the most magical day in any young child’s life—a snow day—with Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny in all their three-dimensional glory! Join forces with up to three friends and brave the snow-covered streets of South Park in an attempt to save the planet and have a day off from school.

It’s evident that Snow Day will carry on the South Park tradition of kids taking their games way too seriously, even though no details regarding the game’s plot or whether the story will play as large a role as it did in the previous two games are known.

It appears that the South Park kids, at least in their imaginations, have transformed their town into a violent and explosive warzone in the course of one wintry day.

Interestingly, the kids fighting in the teaser aren’t actual show characters. This implies that similar to the New Kid in the RPGs, players will probably design and customize their own South Park kids.

South Park: Snow Day Platforms

The Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation5, and Xbox Series X|S will all be able to play South Park: Snow Day. Whether the game will allow saves or cross-platform play is still unknown.

South Park: Snow Day Gameplay

South Park: Snow Day is a multiplayer cooperative 3D game. Although the gameplay mechanics are unknown, it appears that players will need to cooperate in order to defeat other kids and survive. It’s currently unknown if PvP action will occur or if those battles will take place against AI opponents.

What part South Park characters will play in the game is also unknown. In the teaser, Cartman is the only character seen enjoying the snow day and appearing to call fire to fall across the town while clad in his Stick of Truth and Grand Wizard King costume from the television series.
