Stranger Things Season 5: That’s it, nerds! As a fitting conclusion to Stranger Things Day, the official Stranger Things account on Twitter unveiled the script cover and episode title for the series’s final season premiere. The first episode of Stranger Things Season 5 will be named “Chapter One: The Crawl.” The Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross, return to pen the premiere of Stranger Things Season 5 as they have done in previous years. The newly revealed title also adheres to the pattern set by prior seasons, with “Chapter One” prefacing the name of the premiere episode. Season 4’s “The Hellfire Club” followed premieres of “The Vanishing of Will Byers,” “MADMAX,” and “Suzie, Do You Copy?”
In isolation, “The Crawl” is noticeably less specific than its predecessors and reveals virtually little about the first episode of Stranger Things Season 5. The fifth and final entry in the Stranger Things world has been in development since August, and writing is well along. All key storylines for Stranger Things Season 5 are being kept under wraps by the Duffer Brothers and the rest of the creative staff on the series, but we do know that when the show returns, it will be going “100 miles per hour from the outset.”
After the summer’s successful comeback of Stranger Things on Netflix, Steve Weintraub had the opportunity to speak with the Duffer Brothers about the show’s upcoming final season. Season 4 carried viewers all over the world to places like California and Russia, but Stranger Things Season 5 is set almost entirely in Hawkins and the town’s Upside Down mirror dimension. In addition, Ross Duffer has stated that “the big disclosures that are coming in Season 5 are truly about the Upside Down itself,” suggesting that the final episodes will provide an explanation for what the Upside Down actually is.
