On Wednesday night, a 20-year-old woman was shot in the head while pushing her 3-month-old baby in a stroller on the Upper East Side of New York City, and her murder was announced by NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell on Friday evening.
Isaac Argro, who is 22 years old, has been arrested and charged with killing Azsia Johnson and illegally having a gun, the NYPD said in a tweet. Police will “continue to be relentless in their pursuit of justice,” they said.

Police sources on the Upper East Side say that Johnson was shot and killed on Wednesday in what looks like a planned attack.
Suspect Arrested in the Death of 20-year-old Mom
Around 8:25 p.m., Johnson was pushing a baby stroller when a man in a black hooded sweatshirt came up from behind and fired a single shot at close range before running away. Police said the baby was fine.
Police sources say that before the shooting, Johnson texted a family member that she was going to meet her baby’s father “to work things out.”
Sources said that after the shooting, police wanted to talk to the baby’s father but hadn’t named him as a suspect yet.
“We are going to find this person that’s guilty of this horrific crime. We are going to find him and bring him to justice,” New York City Mayor Eric Adams had told reporters Thursday.
Sources say that Johnson was living at a shelter for women in East Harlem, which is where detectives think she was.

On Thursday, Johnson’s friends and family held a vigil at the scene of the shooting, which was near a playground.
ABC New York station WABC said that Johnson also had a 1-year-old son and was studying to become a pediatric nurse.
