New Trailer Confirms System Shock Remake Is Still Coming

System Shock Remake is something that has hooked everyone to social media. System Shock Remake fans are eagerly anticipating its release. Below we have mentioned everything we know so far about System Shock Remake.

The planned action-adventure game System Shock was created by Nightdive Studios and will be published by Prime Matter, a Koch Media company. It’s a new version of the same name video game that came out in 1994 and was created by Looking Glass Studios. The game will be out in 2022 for multiple platforms at once. These include Windows, macOS, Linux, PS4, and Xbox One.

Looking Glass Studios, which created the original System Shock in 1994, shut down in 2000. Star Insurance Company, an affiliate of Meadowbrook Insurance Group, purchased the business and its assets, including the System Shock license. After purchasing the rights to System Shock 2 in 2012, Nightdive Studios developed a digitally distributable version of the game optimized for current operating systems. Night Dive Studios has acquired the rights to the System Shock series of games.

A remake of System Shock for Windows and Xbox One utilizing the Unity engine was revealed by Night Dive Studios in November 2015, just two months after the release of System Shock: Enhanced Edition in September 2015.

Night Dive Studios has decided to rebrand its upcoming game from System Shock Remastered to simply System Shock since they feel the game is more of a reboot than a remastering of the original.

Chris Avellone, a seasoned game designer, and other members of the Fallout: New Vegas team have confirmed their participation.

The game’s development was scheduled to be funded by a Kickstarter effort that Night Dive Studios launched on June 28, 2016, with a goal of US$900,000. The developers released a free sample of the game’s first level alongside their Kickstarter campaign to show off their progress thus far and to “demonstrate [their] commitment and passion” to recreating the game faithfully. On July 9, 2016, with 19 days left in the campaign, the Kickstarter target was reached, and the campaign ended on July 28, 2016, with over $1.35M in fundraising from around 21,600 supporters.

The PC Gaming Show yesterday was a frenzy of new announcements and gameplay footage. One of these caused some people to be startled when they saw it. Prime Matter, the game’s publisher, and Nightdive Studios, the studio responsible for developing the remake, are back with a bang, releasing a new gameplay trailer for the System Shock remake.

The release of the game had been planned for last year but was postponed. This isn’t shocking for this reason alone. As a result of the pandemic, many games were delayed. Nightdive stated that additional development time was required to ensure a high-quality final product. Now, after all that extra time in development, the results are finally here.

It’s amazing to see System Shock in action in this new clip. Nightdive has been building a name for themselves as a premier PC remastering and porting studio, with titles like Turok and Doom 64 among their portfolio. But System Shock is a remake, and it’s arguably the most intense thing the developer has ever worked on.

The New Trailer for System Shock Remake

The trailer for System Shock makes it look like a standard first-person shooter. This is a positive development, to be sure. The original 1994 game certainly hasn’t held up well over time. It was a tad clumsy and the user interface was extremely busy even at launch. System Shock is more approachable now, which is great news for the game’s potential new player base.

Similarly, the visual quality seems to be in line with the rest. Citadel Station’s rich blacks stand out against the bright neon accents. The opposite is also true; the opposition appears fierce. The good news is that you will have an abundance of weapons with which to protect yourself. Rifles, handguns, and even energy weapons are all fair game. There were plenty of explosions in the first game. On the other hand, it appears that the Laser Rapier has been upgraded and is now in much better shape than it was back in the day.

No firm date has been set for the release of the System Shock remake. Nightdive, however, has said that the release will occur in 2022. At last year’s PC Gaming Show, we got our first glimpse at Nightdive Studio’s System Shock remake, and it looks great. Check out the trailer for the system shock remake below.

PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC will all get System Shock.
