Tawny Kitaen’s death cause has been revealed five months after the actress and 1980s music video icon passed away at the age of 59. Kitaen died as a result of dilated cardiomyopathy, a common type of heart disease.
Wynter, 28, and Raine, 22, her daughters, confirmed her death later, saying they were “heartbroken and saddened” by the loss.
“We are heartbroken and saddened to announce the death of our mom. we just want to say thank you for all of you, her fans, and her friends, for always showing her such support and love. you gave her life every day. We miss her and love her and we know her legacy will live on forever.”

Tawny Kitaen Career
Kitaen began modeling and performing in films in her early career. In the early 1980s, she modeled and appeared in television commercials for Jack LaLanne’s European Health Spas. She later remarked that the experience solidified her desire to be an actress.
In 1983, she was featured on the cover of Ratt’s debut EP, “Ratt.” Later, she appeared on the cover of the band’s debut album “Out of the Cellar” in 1984. At the time, she was dating the band’s guitarist, Robbin Crosby.
She also starred as a supporting actress in the television film “Malibu” in 1983. The following year, in 1984, she starred in “The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak.” She also appeared in the film “Bachelor Party” the same year as Tom Hanks’ character’s bride-to-be. In 1986, she appeared in three films: “Witchboard,” “White Hot,” and “Dead Tides.”
Kitaen rose to prominence after appearing in several music videos for the band Whitesnake. She appeared in music videos such as “Here I Go Again,” “Still of the Night,” “Is This Love,” and “The Deeper the Love.” She was also in Ratt’s “Back for More” music video.
Her acting career lasted till the late 1980s and early 1990s. She played Lisa DiNapoli in the daytime drama “Santa Barbara” in 1989. She also appeared in a 1991 episode of “Seinfeld” as Jerry’s girlfriend. From 1991 to 1993, she appeared in 19 episodes of “The New WKRP in Cincinnati” as DJ Mona Loveland. In addition, she participated in “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” and co-hosted “America’s Funniest People” from 1992 to 1994.
Kitaen later appeared in the sixth season of the VH1 reality show “The Surreal Life,” which began in 2006.
