It’s not every day that the Devil comes back to life. It was eight years ago that the anime series “Devil Is a Part-Timer!” from White Fox was released.
An interdimensional demon ruler named Satan Jacob is brought to modern-day Tokyo and reduced to human form in this anime which is based on a series of light novels written by Satoshi Wagahara and illustrated by 029 (Oniku). “Devil Is a Part-Timer!” is the name he adopts after he begins working at a local fast-food restaurant.
According to The Cinemaholic, the original light novel’s first two volumes were only adapted in the show’s first season. Sadao meets and develops friendships with other Ente Isla residents, including his former adversary Emilia Justina.
In spite of this, the dearth of further adaptations after the initial volumes has left fans hoping for more. Fortunately, they’ve finally gotten their wish. “The Devil Is a Part-Timer!” Season 2 is on the way.
Release Date for The Devil Is a Part-Timer! Season 2
Even though “The Devil Is a Part-Timer!” Season 2 was announced at the Kadokawa Corporation‘s Light Novel Expo, and a trailer was released on YouTube the same day, there is still no official release date for the show. Season 2 of the show is expected to premiere in the first half of 2023, according to The Cinemaholic.
However, without official confirmation from White Fox or the show’s publishers, it’s impossible to say anything substantial. During the first season’s original airing, Funimation was in charge of streaming it.
Season 2 was also announced on the official Funimation blog, but it’s unclear if this will be the case going forward. They also don’t say anything about when Season 2 of “The Devil Is a Part-Timer!” will be released.
The Cast of The Devil Is a Part-Timer! Season 2
Regarding “The Devil Is a Part-Timer!” we do know one thing for sure: The cast for Season 2. At the very least, we now have an idea of who will be appearing in the Japanese dub.
Fans of this version will be pleased to discover that all of Season 1’s principal voice performers will be returning for Season 2. However, it’s not clear if this applies to international dubs.
Fans of dubs will be disappointed, as they can no longer be certain that their favorite characters will have the same voice actor performing them. But a number of English-speaking cast members have shown an interest in returning to the show via social media.
No matter how shaky this is, it’s at least a hint that the Season 2 English dub will receive the same treatment as its Japanese counterpart.
The Plot of The Devil Is a Part-Timer! Season 2
Sariel, the angel, and Sadao, the demon. Even though they were previously rivals, Sadao and Emi (the contemporary name for Emilia) seem to have formed a strong and positive relationship as they share a special friendship. In the final episode, she shows up to rescue Sadao from the rain.
In spite of this, there are still many more volumes of the original light novel to be adapted. It is possible that Emi and Sadao’s connection will be further developed if White Fox follows the story of its source material.
Volume 3 begins with the gang discovering a golden apple, which gives birth to a young girl who claims to be the kid of Sadao and Emi. This is when the story really becomes interesting. The couple and their friends deal with the joys and challenges of parenthood in a hilarious and suspenseful way.
