The Villain in Love & Thunder Was Scarier Because of Moon Knight’s Cut Thor Reference.

Moon Knight is an American miniseries created by Jeremy Slater for the streaming service Disney+ and is based on the Marvel Comics of the same name. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), this is Marvel Studios’ sixth television series, and it continues the film franchise’s storylines.

Mohamed Diab heads the directing crew, with Slater as the film’s main writer.

In this, One of Marc Spector’s many alter egos, Steven Grant, is dragged into a deadly mystery around Egyptian gods, and the DID mercenary becomes entangled.

Must go for-

Six episodes of Moon Knight were aired between March 30 and May 4, 2022. It’s a part of the MCU’s fourth phase. Reviewers praised Isaac’s and Hawke’s performances, as well as the show’s darker tone compared to earlier MCU installments.

The villain of Thor: Love and Thunder, Gorr the God Butcher, was briefly mentioned in Moon Knight, but leaving the mention in would have made him even more terrifying.

According to Jeremy Slater, Moon Knight’s writer, a reference to Thor: Love and Thunder, which made the villain considerably terrifying and frightening, was omitted from the show. Due to the ever-changing release dates of MCU films, Moon Knight’s reference was omitted from this film’s plot summary.

However, the mention of Thor: Love and Thunder should have remained in Moon Knight, since it would have tremendously aided the impending sequel.

Moon Knight Made a Brief Reference to Gorr the God Butcher

Thor: Love and Thunder and Moon Knight both have one thing in common: both involve gods.

Khonshu, Ammit, and the Ennead were the main subjects of Moon Knight’s introduction to Egyptian deities. The Norse gods have been prominent in the Thor series from its inception, and Russell Crowe’s Zeus will be introduced in Thor: Love and Thunder.

There are a lot of deities out and about in Thor: Love and Thunder, which introduces Gorr the God Butcher as a formidable enemy who intends on bringing the gods down and defeating them all. There are now many different pantheons in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and all of them should be scared of Gorr, who is determined to eliminate all the gods present.

As Moon Knight’s creator, Jeremy Slater has indicated that he plans to use Gorr the God Butcher in one of two ways. If Moon Knight debuted before Thor: Love and Thunder, gods would express fear that Gorr would come after them in their dialogue.

If the show came out after the movie, gods would be discussing the devastation Gorr wreaked before he was defeated in the show. Moon Knight should have left these allusions in, despite the fact that they were omitted.

Thor: Love and Thunder would have been a lot more frightening if the show allowed Gorr to be developed. As opposed to being a self-contained enemy, Gorr would have appeared more fearsome, and frightening to even Egypt’s gods. If Moon Knight had referenced Gorr, he may have been elevated to a more significant villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Despite Moon Knight’s inclusion of MCU-related Easter eggs and references, the story remains largely detached. As a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I loved Moon Knight’s sense of detachment from Tony Stark and the Snap. As a result of Moon Knight’s loose link to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the writers opted not to include a Gorr reference. However, the reference should have remained.

While many MCU cliches take up entire sequences, a single reference to Gorr might have been delivered in a single line. Setting the character up is easy, but the payoff would have been enormous. Furthermore, because Moon Knight made explicit allusions to several MCU afterlives, a Thor: Love and Thunder-style ending would have worked just well.

Although Moon Knight’s separation from the MCU is a positive thing, acknowledging Thor: Love and Thunder might have improved Gorr the God butcher’s character.

Gorr the God Butcher is so strong that not having the Egyptian gods fear him really diminishes his character. Although it’s understood why the reference was removed, it functions so perfectly that it should have been included. Moon Knight’s cut Thor: Love and Thunder allusion makes Gorr scarier and gives him a bigger presence, while not detracting from the show in any way.
