Tia Mowry Divorce

Find out how Tia Mowry got divorced and what it was like for her as a mother. Find out how her divorce became a sacrifice as she figured out how to be a parent and deal with the end of her marriage at the same time.

Why Tia Mowry Said Her 2 Kids Influenced Her Divorce?

The Sister star recently discussed her decision to end her 14-year marriage to spouse Cory Hardrict last year. She credits her 11-year-old son Cree and her 5-year-old daughter Cairo, both of whom she shares with her boyfriend Cory, as major influences.

Tia said in a June 28 interview with HelloBeautiful:

“A part of my decision was also for them,” “For them seeing their mother walk in truth. I feel like it’s a great lesson for them because it was not an easy decision. It was one of the hardest decisions that I had ever had to make in my entire life.”

She continued, “But if they see that mommy can do it, that mommy, no matter what people say, no matter, even if there’s some sort of doubt, whatever, mommy pushed through. [They can say] my mommy is living and chasing her truth. I want my children to do that. That’s the best gift I can give them.”

Because, at heart, what Tia wants is for her kids to make their own way in the world.

“I want for them not to live a life that I want them to live,” the 44-year-old added. “For them not to live a life that everybody else wants them to live or what they think that they should be or live. I want them to see that it is okay to have a bad day. I want them to see that it is okay to chase your joy.”

In October 2022, Tia broke the news to Cory that they were breaking up.

“I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she posted on Instagram. “These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children.”

Her whole statement is included in the Instagram post that follows:

Nonetheless, Cory and Tia have put on a unified front after their divorce. The pair reunited for the holidays only two months after declaring their separation. Pictures of the couple cuddling their kids in front of the fireplace were posted to Instagram on December 25.

“Family will ALWAYS be Family,” Tia captioned their pics. “Merry Christmas from our family to yours.”
