True Detective Season 4:  Production on HBO’s critically acclaimed crime drama True Detective Season 4, titled True Detective: Night Country, has begun in Iceland, the network said on Monday with Jodie Foster and others.

The cast of True Detective Season 4 is something to talk about. Jodie Foster will play the lead role of Detective Liz Danvers in True Detective Season 4. She’ll be joined by the likes of fighter Kali Reis, Deadwood’s John Hawkes, Doctor Who’s Christopher Eccleston, Killing Eve’s Fiona Shaw, The Nevers’ Finn Bennett, and The Nevers’ Anna Lambe (Three Pines).

Issa López and Alan Page Arriaga are writing season 4, officially known as True Detective: Night Country and López is likely to direct more than one episode. Foster, together with Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, and Mark Ceryak (under the Pastel label) will serve as executive producers for True Detective Season 4.

“When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace,” reads the synopsis. “To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunting truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”

Cary Joji Fukunaga and Nic Pizzolatto, who created the series, are not involved in the making of the fourth season, although they are joined as executive producers by Mari Jo Winkler, Matthew McConaughey, and Woody Harrelson.
