Amy Grant, the gospel icon who has been recovering from a bicycle accident, was honored by Vince Gill and his daughter Corrina Grant Gill in a duet.
At the close of Gill’s Ryman Auditorium gig Thursday, the two sang Gill’s 2019 hit “When My Amy Prays.” On the third night of Gill’s four-night stint, Corrina, 21, sang along to “when my mama prays” as the lyrics were poignantly rearranged.

It all happened in a song about Gill’s admiration for his wife’s Christian faith.
“Amy and I grew up very different. She never missed church, and I never went. And just because we got married, I wasn’t compelled to say, ‘Hey, I’m going to go to church every weekend.’ So here’s the truth, there’s your honesty in the song,” Gill, 65, said in a 2019 interview tied to the release of his album “Okie.”
“We all try to change each other sometimes. When we find our paths with someone, we want them to be more like I am, and you want me to be more like you are. And it’s just not going to happen. The best way to love somebody is at their worst. You will win if you can find a way to love somebody at their worst.”
Grant, 61, was cycling with a companion near a golf course on July 27 when she hit a pothole, her representative, Velvet Kelm, said. After the accident, she spent two nights at Vanderbilt University Medical Center receiving treatment for her injuries. When she was injured, she was wearing a bicycle helmet.
Days earlier, Grant was inducted into the Kennedy Center Honors, one of American entertainment’s top honors.
Grant’s cycling accident occurred two years after he had open-heart surgery to correct a congenital abnormality for a partial anomalous pulmonary venous return disease.
“I feel fantastic,” she told “Good Morning America” eight months after her surgery. “My advice would be to take care of yourself, the world needs you.”
A few of Grant’s gigs in August have been pushed back until 2023. Gill postponed three concerts while Grant recovered from his injuries.
From the 12th through the 15th of December, the duo will perform four shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
