Today we are here discussing the ongoing legal battle between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp for a certain period of time.  A highly publicized case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has been currently going on in Virginia. In this ongoing battle, Depp has sued Amber for defamation for $50 million.

Later on, Amber had a countersuit for $100 million for abuse allegations In a Washington post in 2018 called ‘Opinion’ piece. The actors had met as co-stars during the shoot of The Rum Diary. This story was an adaptation of the novel by Hunter S Thompson with a Similar name.  Johny played the role of Paul Kemo who was the journalist and had encountered the lead character Chenault. Later on, both the actors were in a passionate relationship behind the back of Chenault’s fiance.

Johnny Depp is still in an ongoing partnership with Vanessa Paradis and the couple has two kids that are Jack Depp and Lily-Rose Depp.  In 2019 Heard was arrested for abusing her partner Tasya Van Ree the charges. Later on, the charges against Amber were released when Ree claimed that the cops had misinterpreted the entire incident.


Despite the fact that Heard and Depp’s relationship status remains uncertain several years after their first meeting, court documents demonstrate that they started dating at the end of 2011 or at the beginning of  2012. That year, Heard ended her relationship with her partner. After 14 years of being together,  Paradis and Depp decided to end the relationship. To this Depp discussed in a 2013 Rolling Stone article, stating that “relationships are difficult.”


Heard and Depp got married in a secret ceremony at their Los Angeles home. They again got married in a much more lavish setting on a private island of Depp situated in the Bahamas after the first, more elegant wedding ceremony.

Heard shared with Elle after their wedding, stating that they have been together for years now and this was a lot of organic process after that. She even added that she had a very strong sense of self-reliance. Later on, in 2015, the couple is charged with breaking Australia’s biosecurity laws when they illegally enter the country with their Pistol, Boo, and  dogs, 


After ending the relationship and filing for divorce from Depp on 23rd May 2016, Heard arrived in court with bruises all over her face. She claimed that Depp injured her by throwing an iPhone at her. After filing a complaint about domestic abuse on 21st May, the court grants her a momentary restraining order against Depp. An LAPD spokesperson, on the other hand, claims that their investigation for this crime on 21st May 21 was not found. 

Heard further provided the court documents alleging that the actor most often assaulted her while he was under alcohol and drugs. She even explained, claiming that he has a bad temper.” She also added that the actor was frequently neurotic, and his temper was extremely frightening for her because it has proven to be seriously dangerous and life-threatening to her on various occasions.”

Heard and Depp settled their domestic violence case out of court in August. Heard will begin receiving a $7 million settlement as part of their divorce, which she plans to donate to charity. The couple shared in a joint statement She added that her relationship was deeply passionate and volatile at times, but it always was confined by love. However,  None of them has made any false accusations with the goal of acquiring any financial advantage.


The couple’s divorce was finalized. Heard got to keep Boo and Pistol, and Depp got his island in the Bahamas, along with his cars and motorcycle. This settlement also includes a clause of non-disparagement that prohibits both of them from saying anything negative about their marriage or divorce.


However, Heard’s op-ed in the Washington Post starts off a sequence of lawsuits and court cases which are still underway. Despite the fact that she did not mention Depp by his name, the op-ed is at the heart of his $50 million defamation suit, in which Depp’s lawyers claim that Heard was an accuser rather than a victim.


Depp is suing its executive editor of the Sun and the entire production,  for calling Depp a “wife-beater” in a 2018 article. The libel trial in the United Kingdom concludes on 2nd November, with a decision on the publication’s use of words in the article.


Depp’s appeal against the Sun got denied. As a result of the outcome, he is replaced in the next season of Fantastic Beasts by Mads Mikkelsen.


On  11th April, the trail had begun in a courthouse in Fairfax, Virginia. Heard’s lawyer started their opening statements with allegations of abuse, including horrifying claims of sexual and physical assault. As per Depp’s own testimony, he continued to pursue the case of defamation in order to clear his title just for “the truth.”
