Yellowjackets Season 3: It’s Time for the Next Chapter
The second season of the Showtime phenomenon Yellowjackets left fans with more questions than answers as the show deepened the decades-long mystery surrounding the group’s time spent in the wilderness.
In the most recent episodes, the youngsters faced severe adversity during the harsh winter, including their first experiences with cannibalism and the death of Shauna’s child. This was all depicted in the most recent episodes of the show.
Shauna’s family is still struggling with the ramifications of the p*ssing that her lover Adam did to them when the program initially featured Lottie and Van as adolescents. This is the case in the present day. After suffering huge setbacks at the story’s finale, the teen and adult characters are shocked but prepared to face whatever comes next.
The following is the present state of our knowledge regarding Yellowjackets’ third season.
Will the Yellowjackets Return for a Third Season?
Yellowjackets will return for a third season. The show’s writers have been transparent about their five-season plan, and Showtime had already ordered Season 3 before Season 2 aired. Co-creator Ashley Lyle told Entertainment Weekly, “The original plan was about five seasons, and we feel like we’re still on track for that.”
The third season of Yellowjackets was in the works when the Writers Guild of America strike hit and shut down production. In a tweet, Lyle said:
Well, we had exactly one day in the #YellowJackets S3 writers’ room. It was amazing, and creatively invigorating, and so much fun, and I’m very excited to get back to it as soon as the #WGA gets a fair deal. #1u #unionstrong.”

That settles it: Season 3 of Yellowjackets is coming, but not before we wrap up a few more pressing concerns. If you needed more reason to believe that the industry’s Writers will eventually secure a fair contract and return to work, you now have it.
When Will the Third Season of Yellowjackets Premiere?
Again, this is highly dependent on the conclusion of the WGA strike, from what we can tell from the calendar alone, Season 1 of Yellowjackets aired from late 2021 to early 2022, and Season 2 from spring 2023 to summer 2023.
Therefore, we expect production to begin in late summer 2024. However, due to the continuing WGA strike, the show will likely not start until much later, potentially at least a few months later.
