After seeing a video of him singing, many people are impressed by one of the show’s breakout stars, Joseph Quinn. Clips of Quinn practicing the monumental guitar solo were posted to the official Stranger Things Twitter on Sunday.

It reads, “Practice makes perfect,” and includes a behind-the-scenes look at the 29-year-old rehearsing the complex sequence.

Eddie Munson, played by Quinn, uses the 1986 smash to rally the troops and save his friends from Vecna’s demon minions in this supernatural drama.

Producers kept things in the family by enlisting Robert Trujillo’s son, bassist Tye Trujillo of Metallica, to help create the solo for “Masters of Puppets.”

James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Trujillo, who make up the heavy metal band, recently uploaded a TikTok in which they recreated the use of their song in the series finale. They show up in Hellfire Club t-shirts, which they wear in the show because that’s the name of the official Dungeons & Dragons club at Hawkins High School, where the events take place.

The band had just a few days prior expressed their “amazement” at having the “incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey” before the tribute was posted.

“The way the Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level, so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include ‘Master of Puppets’ in the show but to have such a pivotal scene built around it,” the band wrote on Instagram. “We were all stoked to see the final result, and when we did, we were totally blown away.”

Quinn revealed in an interview that he did play along with the song as it was being filmed, despite not actually performing it live.

“We had a backing track, and I was playing along with it,” he said. “I wouldn’t want to mess with what they’ve already got, but it was very useful to be able to play along character-wise. It’s a pretty adolescent fantasy to be a rockstar, isn’t it? I felt like one for a night. It was great having Gaten [Matarazzo] up there with me. They really turned it up when they played ‘Master of Puppets’ and the whole crew were there.”
