Actress Natalie Desselle Reid, who had a recurring role on the UPN sitcom Eve and co-starred with Halle Berry in the 1997 film B.A.P.S., has passed away. She was 53 years old. “Natalie was a bright light. She was an amazing actress and comedienne but also an awesome mother & wife,” wrote Robinson.
Natalie Reid Dies Due to Colon Cancer
Robinson Peete continued by saying that the news of Desselle Reid’s death and the fact that she is dead has left her “absolutely decimated.” “I got to know her when my mom was managing her,” she wrote. “She will be so missed … sending out prayers to her children and husband.”
TMZ claimed that Desselle Reid had a private death from colon cancer.
The death of actress Desselle Reid has been confirmed by what appears to be her Instagram account. The post reads, “a bright light in this world. A queen. An extraordinary mother and wife. Her diverse career touched so many, and she will be loved forever. Naturally, we are grieving and processing this profound loss, and we thank you in advance for respecting our privacy at this extremely difficult time.”
Robert Townsend‘s B.A.P.S. starred Desselle Reid and Halle Berry as waitresses at a Georgia soul food diner who end up taking care of a Beverly Hills millionaire (Martin Landau) and living it up as “Black American Princesses.” Mickey, played by Desselle Reid, was one of the show’s highlights.
Natalie Desselle-Reid’s cause of death is colon cancer, the same affliction that Chadwick Boseman suffered from.
