Actress Natalie Desselle Reid, who had a recurring role on the UPN sitcom Eve and co-starred with Halle Berry in the 1997 film B.A.P.S., has passed away. She was 53 years old. Dolores Robinson, Desselle Reid’s manager, and actress Holly Robinson Peete confirmed her death on Twitter on Monday morning.
“Natalie was a bright light. She was an amazing actress and comedienne but also an awesome mother & wife,” wrote Robinson.

Robinson Peete continued by saying that the news of Desselle Reid’s death and the fact that she is dead has left her “absolutely decimated.” “I got to know her when my mom was managing her,” she wrote. “She will be so missed … sending out prayers to her children and husband.”
TMZ claimed that Desselle Reid had a private death from colon cancer.

Over the course of Eve’s first three seasons (2003-06), she appeared in 66 episodes as Eve’s best friend, Janie Eggins. Desselle Reid has also made film appearances in Madea’s Big Happy Family (directed by Tyler Perry), Set It Off (directed by F. Gary Gray), and How to Be a Player (directed by Def Jam). She played the evil stepsister Minerva in Brandy’s 1997 ABC film adaptation of Cinderella and starred in the NBC sitcom Built to Last.
Desselle Reid was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on July 12, 1967. She graduated from Grambling State University.
Leonard, her husband, and their three children, Sereno, Summer, and Sasha, are the only ones who survived. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family pay expenses.
