Kevin Samuels, who called himself a “relationship guru” and “image consultant,” died on Thursday at the age of 56. He was best known for his hateful comments about Black women in particular. There were no reports right away about what killed Samuels.
Multiple news outlets, including REVOLT Black News, cited reliable sources to say that the person had died. Melanie King, who was said to be a close friend of Samuels and who has been called his female counterpart, said Thursday that she had “family confirmation” that he had died that same day. King said, “This is for sure.”

On Thursday afternoon, there were a lot of posts on social media about Samuels’ death, but at first, there was no way to confirm that he had died.

His loyal followers asked for proof. As people tried to figure out what was going on, Samuels’ name became a top trending topic on Twitter on Thursday afternoon.
The Plug Talk Instagram account said that Samuels died of “cardiac arrest,” but the post gave no proof.
Other Instagram accounts picked up on the same story, but they didn’t offer any proof. It looks like the news that Samuels died came from a single post on social media that said he died Thursday morning.
Women who were offended by Samuels’s slanderous misogynoir reacted with joy to the news of his death, while those who wanted to know more reacted with caution.
Samuels’s most recent social media post was an Instagram video he put up on Wednesday afternoon. In the video, he talks about “Modern Women” and wonders if they are “A Party of 1.”
Since at least Tuesday, he hadn’t changed anything on his Facebook page.
His last tweet was in April, but it led people back to his Instagram. The last video he put on YouTube was also about “Modern Women,” and it went live on Wednesday at the same time as the Instagram post.
Samuels has gained a lot of fans because of how he talks to Black women.

Then Samuels asked a woman, “What do you think about sharing a man?” She told him, “That’s fine with me. If they’re going to mess around with other women, I’ll do what I want to do too.”

I don’t believe Kevin Samuels is dead, for the record. But me not feeling bad if he is doesn’t mean I’m “celebrating” it. He went out of his way to be cruel.
