When Joe Biden was up for the elections, everybody thought he would be a nice guy. It seems like he has decided to enter the race of sugar-coated politicians. Despite his broken commitment to keep U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan until the last American leaves. President Joe Biden provided the feeble consolation that it’s never too late for Americans to depart, even if the last American jets have already left. As Biden noted on Tuesday, “There is no deadline… It’s left to diplomatic persuasion instead of military power to convince Taliban extremists who’ve been waging a 20-year war against the United States to allow remaining Americans to leave safely. Most Americans who wished to leave the country did so. There is no deadline for those Americans who are still there. In the meantime, if they want to come out, we’ll keep working to bring them out. Secretary of State Blinken is leading ongoing diplomatic efforts to assure safe passage for any American or Afghan national who wishes to leave Afghanistan.”

However, Biden did promise to get all Americans out before removing troops. And his suggestion on Tuesday that many of the remaining Americans are dual national citizens who may be sceptical about leaving does not reflect the complete picture of what is going on.
According to him, 100 to 200 Americans are still in Afghanistan and have “some inclination to depart.” In the aftermath, White House press secretary Jen Psaki reported that Biden told those people, “we will get you out” if they wish to leave in two weeks. These remarks may exaggerate the distress of Americans stranded in Afghanistan. Frank McKenzie, the U.S. Central Command chief, said Monday that Americans had tried to reach the Kabul airport for the final evacuations but had been unsuccessful. The last five jets to depart had no Americans on board. On Aug. 19, Biden told ABC News that the United States would not leave many Americans stranded in the middle of the ocean.
According to Biden, “the American people realize that we’re going to try to get it done before August 31″ When the time comes, we’ll find out who’s left.”
Then what? – As for the remaining Americans, “we’re going to stay until they’re all gone.” On August 30, one minute before midnight, the last U.S. jets departed from Kabul’s airport. Those who remain are being evacuated by non-U.S. military means, officials say. If diplomacy succeeds, charter flights from the airport reopen, and overland routes are among the possibilities. Diplomacy is now involved in this case.
More than $2 trillion has been spent in Afghanistan…or you could take the number of $1 trillion, as many say it
Afghanistan has cost the U.S. more than $2 trillion since September 11, 2001. Every day for two decades, that’s $300 million. Afghanistan has 40 million inhabitants, and it costs $50,000 for each of them. Eight hundred billion dollars went directly to the Afghan army’s training, and another 85% went to direct war costs. Taxpayers in the United States pay $750 million a year in salaries to Afghan soldiers. According to Brown University’s Costs of War Project, it is estimated that $2.26 trillion will be spent on the war.
Long after President Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan is complete, we’ll continue to suffer costs. The U.S. war in Afghanistan has been funded by borrowing. After paying more than $500 billion in interest on our $2.26 trillion debt. Brown University academics anticipate that by 2050, the cost of interest on our Afghan war debt could reach $6.5 trillion. For every American, that’s a total of $20,000!
“Nation-building” became the focus of the US operation in Afghanistan.
Nation-building? Are you kidding me, mister! Nation-building for which nation, to be precise? “We hope to see a relatively stable administration in Afghanistan. One that…provides the platform for future rehabilitation of that country,” Mr Biden said in 2001 when he was a US senator. In 2003, Mr President forgot to have said something like that and issued a statement- alternative to nation-building is chaos. The chaos that churns out bloodthirsty warlords, drug traffickers, and terrorists- and that’s precisely what happened.
For more than a decade, US troops have deliberately destroyed Afghanistan in the name of nation-building. They have spent trillions of dollars for the sake of development, but do you call it ‘nation building’? If yes, in what sense? America had its real purpose and intent to invade Afghanistan, and we all know what it was. The outcome of this total war came out to be just the emotional and physical devastation of both afghan residents and American troops, let alone Nation building.
