The body of a man who had died on Longs Peak on Saturday was brought down from the mountain by park rangers on Sunday.
Sunday evening around 5 p.m., the body was found high above the Ledges area of the 14,259-foot mountain, according to a park news release.
Unfortunately, we don’t know the person’s name just yet.
Dead Body Recovered From Longs Peak
The 1.5-mile Keyhole Route, which leads from the Keyhole to the peak’s summit, was closed so that recovery workers could access the area. After Sunday’s cleanup, the path was open again.
Immediately following the Keyhole, the trail transitions into its more technical form as it passes through the Ledges section. Beginning at the base of the Trough section, this area consists of a series of narrow ledges along a cliff edge with significant drop-offs.
This is at least the sixth death reported in Rocky Mountain National Park so far in 2018.

Before Saturday, the last person to die in the park was Anna Leikvold, 22, of Fort Collins. She was on the Twin Sisters Trail, which is partly in the park when she was hit by a falling rock.
