Lyric Woods and Devin Clark Found Shot to Death After Mysteriously Going Missing

Lyric Woods, 14, and Devin Clark, 18, were last seen by family members on Friday night. Orange County, North Carolina, officials say they discovered the bodies of the two teenagers on Sunday.

“Through our ongoing investigation, we have information that suggests the two individuals located off Buckhorn Road yesterday are Lyric Woods, 14, and Devin Clark, 18,” said Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood. “Family members reported Lyric missing Saturday afternoon to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office; the deputy filed the missing person’s report in the National Crime Information Center index (NCIC) at 3:44 pm. Devin Clark’s family contacted the Mebane Police Department on Sunday with concerns about his whereabouts. An officer entered him into NCIC at approximately 1:42 pm.”

Deputies reported that Woods, a 9th grader at Cedar Ridge High School, had gone missing after leaving home on Friday night and had not returned by Saturday. According to The News & Observer, Woods’ grieving family and grandfather are offering a $10,000 reward for information on her death.

During his time at East Alamance High, Clark participated in football.

Two men on four-wheelers were reportedly checking trail cameras on a Sunday in western Orange County when they stumbled across the bodies of two teenagers who had been shot to death near a power-line easement.

“Men riding four-wheelers discovered the bodies, a white female and a black male, just before 3 pm yesterday,” deputies wrote Monday before Woods and Clark were tentatively identified. “Both appear to be less than 20 years old.”

On Friday night, about 11 p.m., Woods’ stepfather last saw her. On Friday, The News & Observer received a missing person’s report. Around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, he realized she was gone when he went in to wake her up. Midday that day, a report of a missing person was lodged. Investigators think Woods escaped via the back door. Saturday morning, we discovered that the door had been left unlocked. There was a report that Clark hadn’t been seen since about 11 o’clock.  On Sunday morning at about 11:25, his disappearance was reported.

According to WJZY, more than a hundred individuals, including Clark’s family, classmates, teammates, and teachers, gathered on the football field at East Alamance High School to pay tribute to him.

“Today was a true testament to who he was and how he lived his life,” coach and mentor L.J. Flintall told the outlet. “Just loving everyone. Not having a harmful bone in his body.”

“He was an athletic person, he was a good person, he was a good friend, and he had a good heart. He wouldn’t hurt a fly,” Clark’s mother Tiffany Concepcion told WFMY. “I’m reaching out because his father can’t handle it right now and I can’t handle it, but I’m a mother and I’m going to do what I can.”
