Apple’s new M2 Max and M2 Pro processors have topped the charts for laptop CPU single-thread performance in PassMark. A trio of Alder Lake-HX components has surpassed the previously dominant Apple M2, which has now dropped to third place.
In spite of the fact that the M2 Max and M2 Pro performed admirably, they still had to compete with Intel’s Raptor Lake-HX mobile processors. Update: Another M2 chip has appeared near the top of the chart.
Apple is sitting pretty at the moment on PassMark’s CPU Mark table for single-thread performance in laptops, with the M2 Max, M2 Pro (10-core), and M2 taking the first three places. Even the M1 generation is still looking good, with the M1 Max, 10-core M1 Pro, and 8-core M1 Pro taking up eighth, ninth, and 10th spot, respectively.
There are four different Intel Alder Lake mobile CPUs, three of which are extremely powerful -HX chips, which separate the two Apple-M families. While the current position appears excellent for Apple, it seems likely that Raptor Lake-HX will spice things up upon its arrival on PassMark.

The Apple M2 Max (12 cores, 3.7 GHz) now has the highest single-thread score among mobile processors, with 4,322 points. The 10-core form of the M2 Pro (3.5 GHz) also scores well, with 4,233 points, and there is still a 12-core version of the M2 Pro to be tested yet.
