Jerry Jarrett Is A Wrestler And Promoter In Memphis He Was Passed Away At The Age Of 80

As reported by WWE on Tuesday, Jerry Jarrett, a wrestler and promoter from Memphis passed away. His age was given as 80.

According to the WWE,

“WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett’s father, Jerry Jarrett, competed for NWA Mid-America and won many Tag Team Championships before switching his focus to promotion”.

In addition, he and fellow Memphis legend Jerry “The King” Lawler founded the Continental Wrestling Association, which later combined with World Class Championship Wrestling to form the United States Wrestling Association.

The WWE released a statement expressing their sadness for Jarrett’s loved ones. His son posted images of his father to social media with the caption, “Performer, businessman, icon, and dad. The Almighty looks after Jerry Jarrett’s family and friends and blesses the famous musician.

Pro wrestling veteran and father of WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett, Jerry Jarrett, passed away on Tuesday, the business confirmed. He was 80.

Jarrett began his wrestling career in the Mid-America region of the National Wrestling Alliance, where he won many tag-team championships before hanging up his boots in 1977 to co-found the Continental Wrestling Association with Jerry “The King” Lawler.

Some 11 years after the promotion’s inception, it united with World Class Championship Wrestling to establish the United States Wrestling Association. In 1997, Jarrett sold Lawler the majority stake in the USWA. But the organization would fail due to the “Monday Night Wars” between World Wrestling Entertainment and WWE.
