What Is Outer Banks About? Discovering Edward Teach Hidden Gold

American action-adventure mystery teen drama Outer Banks, written by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, debuted on Netflix on April 15, 2020. Teenagers from two rival gangs search for a buried treasure in this drama set in a North Carolina coastal town.

The show’s third season was officially announced in December 2021 and debuted on February 23, 2023. With the success of the first two seasons, the show was renewed for a third and fourth season in February 2023, just in time for the season three debut.

Outer Banks Season 4 On Netflix

The third season of Outer Banks has concluded, and while I wasn’t a fan, Netflix seems to have enjoyed it. While writing these pieces, I typically have to mention something like, “we have no official word on the next season of X show yet,” but that is not the case with Outer Banks season 4.

Season 4 of Outer Banks was already announced by Netflix before season 3 premiered. This is quite unusual for the streaming service, which often makes even smash blockbusters like Wednesday wait 30–40 days before a renewal announcement.

Although the final discovery makes much of Season 3 of Outer Banks feel like a season finale, there is also an apparent teaser for the next treasure hunt that, upon further reflection, makes a bit more sense than I had initially thought.

Now famous for knowing Blackbeard’s last known journey, a guy approaches the party, now renowned for finding El Dorado. There’s probably some loot involved there, too, and as I investigated this legend, I learned some fascinating details.

According to legend, Blackbeard met his end right here in North Carolina, so there’s a clear tie to OBX, and the crew can do their sleuthing without having to jet off to some far-flung locale.

What does Season 3 Outer Banks Means For Season 4

Season 4 of Outer Banks will soon be available on Netflix, and the showrunners have been discussing their intentions for Edward Teach/Blackbeard and the implications of the time jump that occurred in Season 3.

The third season of Outer Banks is now available on Netflix, concluding a story arc about the search for lost treasure from a ship called The Royal Merchant.

With that arc now closed, the showrunners will need to find fresh material to work into the fourth season, which will essentially serve as a fresh start after the events of Season 3.

The moniker Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, was used to accomplish this. Also, the series concludes by skipping ahead in time. One of the showrunners has discussed the implications of this for Outer Banks Season 4.

Outer Banks season 3 widens its scope, includes new characters, and infuses real-world mythology—Byron Preiss’ Treasure Hunt In the Cult Classic “The Secret” in the last season. After escaping the Camerons and losing Denmark Tanny’s golden cross, the Pogues and Cleo end up on a deserted island they call Poguelandia.

As they are released weeks later, another affluent man searches for stolen valuables. Carlos Singh, Andy McQueen’s character, thinks Tanny’s journal will lead him to El Dorado. Big John meets John B in Barbados, but Singh follows. As they return to the OBX with the Pogues, they must cope with the consequences of being away or presumed dead.

While Pope and the Pogues are frantic to acquire Tanny’s cross from the Camerons, Big John, and John B quietly gather clues on the golden city’s location, continuing Big John’s lifetime pursuit. Once Singh arrests Big John, John B. tells his friends about the mission and sets them on a dangerous voyage to South America to free his father and find the secret wealth.
