Felton Spencer played 11 seasons of professional basketball in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the United States. He was born in Louisville on January 15, 1968, but spent most of his formative years in a nearby town.

Spencer also averaged a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game and was a first-team All-Metro Conference pick with teammate LaBradford Smith.
The Minnesota Timberwolves drafted Spencer with the sixth overall pick in 1990. He became an NBA all-rookie team selection throughout his three years with the organization. In addition to the Knicks, he played for the Jazz, Magic, Warriors, Spurs, and Jazz.
Later in his career, Spencer was an assistant coach at Louisville’s Spalding and Bellarmine universities.

Felton Spencer’s Role in the Hornets’ Success
The Minnesota Timberwolves used the sixth overall choice of the 1990 NBA Draft to draft Spencer. His first four years in the league were spent with the Timberwolves, where he served mainly as a backup center. In 1994, he signed as free agency with the Utah Jazz, where he played for five seasons and was part of the team that reached the NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998
After departing the Jazz in 1999, Spencer played for numerous different NBA clubs, including the Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic, and Denver Nuggets.
