Ana Obregón Welcomes Her Son’s Surrogate-born Infant
Ana Obregón, a Spanish TV celebrity, recently announced that the surrogate baby she and her husband received is Ana’s granddaughter. The 68-year-old actress revealed to Hola! magazine on Wednesday(April 5, 2023) that her son Aless Lequio Garcia, who was 27 at the time of his death from cancer in 2020, is the father of her unborn daughter.
“This girl isn’t my daughter. She’s my granddaughter,” she told the outlet of baby Ana Sandra. “This was Aless’ final wish, to bring a child of his own into the world,” Obregón added that before her son Aless passed away from cancer, he was urged to save samples of his sperm.
She added that surrogacy is banned in Spain and that the samples were frozen and kept in New York. The actress said that the birth occurred on March 20, 2023, in Miami and that the pregnancy began in June of that year. Nobody knows who the baby’s mother is or who the egg donor could be.
Obregón took to Instagram to write a touching letter to her late son with a snapshot of her Hola! magazine cover.

“My Aless, I swore I would save you from cancer and failed you. I promised you I’d bring your daughter into the world, and here she is in my arms,” she said, according to Instagram’s translation.
“I swear I will take care of her with the infinite love I have to give, and you will help me from heaven,” Obregón added. “You are the love of my life in heaven, and your daughter is the love of my life on earth.”
Last week, Obregón sparked a heated discussion by announcing that she had welcomed the kid through a surrogate. Several Spanish lawmakers and the country’s leftist administration see surrogacy as “womb renting” and have made it illegal.
Many people in the nation are Catholic and strongly disapprove of the activity. Even if done with agreement and no money changes hands, surrogacy is illegal in other European countries, including Italy, Germany, and France.

While surrogacies are illegal in Spain, parents who have a child born abroad via surrogacy can return with their new kid and legally register them as their own. Obregón plans to go to Madrid after registering their newborn child with the Spanish embassy in the United States.
The socialite has appeared in over 60 films and television shows, including “The A-Team.” “A light full of love came into my darkness. I will never be alone again,” she captioned the post. “I AM ALIVE AGAIN.”
