Halo Infinite Season 5 Brings New Maps and Modes

The fifth season of content and updates for 343 Industries’ free-to-play multiplayer game Halo Infinite is currently being prepared. On October 17, 2023, Season 5, titled Reckoning, will debut. It will include new maps, modes, weaponry, and cosmetics to the game. Here are some of the highlights of the upcoming season to look forward to.

New Maps: Forbidden and Crystal Caves

Season 5 will introduce two new maps for the Arena mode, which is the competitive 4v4 playlist. The first map is Forbidden, which is set on Zeta Halo, the ringworld where the campaign takes place.

Forbidden is a medium-sized map with a mix of indoor and outdoor areas, featuring a Forerunner structure and a crashed Pelican. The map has multiple levels of verticality and offers opportunities for flanking and sniping.

The second map is Crystal Caves, which is a small and claustrophobic map set inside a cave filled with glowing crystals. The map has narrow corridors and tight corners, making it ideal for close-quarters combat and shotgun battles. The map also has some environmental hazards, such as falling rocks and explosive barrels.

New Modes: Firefight and Extraction

Season 5 will also bring two new modes to the game, one for PvE and one for PvP. The first mode is Firefight, which is a fan-favorite mode from previous Halo games. Firefighting is a cooperative mode where up to four players have to survive waves of enemies with increasing difficulty and objectives.

Firefight will have different variants, such as Arcade Firefight, which allows players to choose their loadouts and weapons, and Heroic Firefight, which is more challenging and requires teamwork and strategy.

The second mode is Extraction, which is a new PvP mode that involves capturing and defending points on the map. Extraction is a 4v4 mode where teams have to extract data from terminals scattered around the map.

To extract data, a team has to hack a terminal and defend it until the extraction is complete. The other team can try to stop the extraction by killing the hackers or hacking the terminal themselves. The first team to extract three terminals wins the match.

Season 5: Reckoning of Halo Infinite debuts on October 17!

New Weapons: Gravity Hammer and Plasma Launcher

Season 5 will also add two new weapons to the game’s arsenal, both of which are returning from previous Halo games. The first weapon is the Gravity Hammer, which is a powerful melee weapon that can smash enemies and vehicles with ease.

The Gravity Hammer can also create shockwaves that can knock back or damage nearby enemies. The Gravity Hammer is a legendary weapon that can be found on certain maps or dropped by enemy bosses.

The second weapon is the Plasma Launcher, which is a Covenant weapon that can fire sticky plasma grenades that explode after a short delay. The Plasma Launcher can fire up to four grenades at once, creating a devastating barrage of explosions.

The Plasma Launcher can also lock onto targets, making it easier to hit moving enemies or vehicles. The Plasma Launcher is a rare weapon that can be found on certain maps or obtained from weapon pods.

The Battle Pass will have both a free track and a premium track, which costs 1,000 credits to unlock. The premium track will also include an exclusive instant-unlock bonus item with purchase.

Season 5 will also introduce Operations, which are in-game events that offer additional rewards and challenges for players to complete. Operations will replace Events from previous seasons and will have 20 tiers of free rewards each.

Operations will last for four weeks and will have different themes and objectives. The first Operation of Season 5 will be called Operation: Reckoning and will focus on the Banished faction from the campaign.

Halo Infinite Season 5: Reckoning will launch on October 17, 2023, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The game is free-to-play for multiplayer modes but requires Xbox Game Pass or purchase for the campaign mode.
